Brandon Marshall Stabbed: Miami Dolphins WR in Intensive Care

Dolphins starting wide receiver Brandon Marshall is reportedly in intensive care after a stabbing, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

FOX's Jay Glazer indicates that Marshall is "not in imminent danger" from what appears to be an incident arising from a domestic dispute.

Marshall is no stranger to such issues. Denver police were reportedly called to Marshall's Colorado homes "about 11 times" between 2006 and 2008, leading to an arrest in March 2007. He was also cited for misdemeanor battery in September 2008.

Marshall has also had other trouble with the law, from being charged with assaulting a police offer at UCF in 2004 to a DUI charge in October 2007.

He was also accompanying former Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams on the night Williams was shot to death in a limousine, and some reports have indicated that Marshall may have been the intended target.

Acquired for two second-round picks from the Denver Broncos and signed to a four-year, $47.5 million extension last offseason, Marshall performed quite well on the field given the team's limited offensive abilities. He caught 86 passes for 1,014 yards and two touchdowns.

Marshall was also a good citizen off the field during his first year in Miami, staying out of trouble with the law and avoiding causing controversy with the media, aside from some minor complaints about quarterback Chad Henne after the season.

While it sounds like Marshall will be okay after this most recent incident and he should be available when football activities eventually resume, it's certainly unsettling that Marshall has brought his off-the-field troubles to South Beach.

I'm certainly not placing blame on Marshall for what happened to him without knowing the details, but Marshall has a track record of domestic incidents as long as anyone in the NFL, and it's hard always to give guys the benefit of the doubt when they have such track records.

It does not appear as if Marshall is facing charges for anything at this time and may very well have been the victim here, but the entire incident does not evoke confidence that Marshall has grown up and left that kind of life behind him.
