WWE Extreme Rules: Opportunity's Knocking; Will Christian Be Allowed to Answer?
It's been less than a year since we saw the rise and fall of The Undertaker's "brother" Kane. During that time there were several comments and articles about when Christians time would come.
I was a huge naysayer on this happening for the former TNA champ. My reasoning was due to his age and at the time he was being used as a semi-jobber for the WWE. Many reports had also stated that with the exception of Michael P.S. Hayes, not many people within the WWE were pulling for Christian's main event run.
However, we had some teases leading us to believe it may be his time. Especially, the classic promo leading up to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view between he and Matt Hardy. Each of them talking about their accolades and how they were going to get the "Money in the Bank" briefcase and become the next WHC.

In the end, we found out it was not time for Hardy or Christian, as Kane ultimately won and eventually got the title.
Since then, Christian had continued his losing ways and eventually was injured at the hands of Alberto Del Rio. Eventually, he came back and had several matches leading up to Wrestlemania and a serious push alongside Edge.
Although, one has to wonder if Edge had not retired, would Christian be in this situation?
This seems similar to Rey Mysterio's push after Eddie Guerrero died. There was no real reason for Rey to win the belt other than Eddie's passing, just as there really is no reason for Christian to win other than Edge's retirement.
Don't get me wrong the man is talented and deserves a push. However, what happened to the old-school championship tournaments leading up to a final match at a pay-per-view?
Yes, Christian won a battle royal, but I feel like prior to his injury he didn't stand a chance at main-eventing. Sadly, I feel the that still holds true today.
Many people feel the WWE has built Christian up enough for the fans. However, has he been built up enough for the WWE?
I don't believe so, ultimately I see Del Rio walking away as champ and Christian falling back to obscurity. Having Christian as champ right now doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Especially since Del Rio has some serious heat and the WWE needs a great heel champion.
Let me know your thoughts, is Christian walking away as champ? Or has his time passed?
