Phil Baroni's "I'm the Best Eva!" and the 10 Greatest UFC Post-Fight Quotes
The post-fight quotes are a serious and sometimes entertaining part of the fight that took place before it.
Many memorable moments have come from the fighters' post-fight interviews including those from Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Randy Couture, Forrest Griffin and B.J. Penn.
Other quotes have come immediately after a fighter has scored a finish as they celebrate their victory.
This is a list of the 10 best post-fight quotes.
I'm Tito Ortiz and Love Me or Hate Me, I'm Gonna Be Here for a Long, Long Time!
1 of 10
Former UFC light-heavyweight champion said this quote over five years ago, and it still holds true to this day. Whether or not fans love him or hate him, he is still fighting inside the UFC and is currently scheduled to take on Ryan Bader at UFC 132.
Even though he has only gone 2-4-1 since that 2006 bout with Forrest Griffin, Ortiz still fights inside the biggest Mixed Martial Arts promotion in the world and is one of the most famous light-heavyweight fighters of all time.
He also holds the record for most title defenses of the LHW belt at five.
No. 9 Henderson: "I Think That Last One Was Just To Shut Him Up a Little Bit"
2 of 10
It was the storyline that carried the fight between Ultimate Fighter coaches Michael Bisping and Dan Henderson. Which fighter would be the one to "shut up?"
Only one fighter was doing the trash-talking, and it wasn't the man with the devastating right hand.
Bisping found out quickly he wasn't going to be able to back up all the trash talk he used to get Henderson fired up. He ate a big right hand in the second round, and it didn't end there. Henderson delivered a second bomb to the British fighter "just to shut him up a little bit."
No. 8 B.J. Penn: "Sean Sherk......You're Dead!"
3 of 10
This was the quote Penn said after defeating Joe Stevenson to become the light-heavyweight champion once again at UFC 80.
His next opponent, Sean Sherk, was the former champion who was stripped of his belt for failing a post-fight drug test after his fight with Hermes Franca at UFC 73.
The biggest fight in the history of the lightweight division was set for UFC 84, which turned out to be one of the biggest and best cards the UFC ever put on.
Penn finished Sherk with punches and a knee as the third round came to a close.
No. 7 Paul Buentello: "Don't Fear Me, Fear the Consequences!"
4 of 10This isn't what many would call a "great" post-fight quote, but it is one of the most awkward and funniest.
After Paul Buentello defeated Gilbert Aldana at UFC 57, he attempted to get the crowd to repeat his trademark "Don't fear me, fear the consequences" quote. What happened, well, you will just have to watch the video to find out.
No.6 Mir "If They Want to See the Guy's Arm Ripped Totally Off, I'll Rip It Off"
5 of 10
"If the crowd wants to see the guy's arm ripped totally off, I'll rip it off."
Frank Mir fought Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 48. In one of the most bizarre and brutal endings to a fight, Mir broke Sylvia's arm in an armbar and referee Herb Dean quickly stepped in to stop the fight.
Sylvia was mad at the stoppage so Mir let him, the fans and the referee know what he's willing to do if his opponent doesn't tap.
No. 5 Quinton Jackson: "There Gonna Be Some More Black on Black Crime!"
6 of 10After Quinton "Rampage" Jackson defeated Rashad Evans' training partner Keith Jardine at UFC 96, Evans got into the cage to challenge the former light-heavyweight champion. What ensued was a tense and entertaining staredown with Evans and Jackson face-to-face exchanging their dislike for each other.
The fight took over a year to happen from the famous post-fight staredown, but it all went down at UFC 114 in 2010. Evans won a unanimous decision over three rounds.
No. 4 Georges St. Pierre: "I Was Not Impressed by Your Performance"
7 of 10UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes had just got done defeating rival and former welterweight champion B.J. Penn in a rematch at UFC 63.
The next man in line was Georges St. Pierre, and he was in the audience that evening.
After Hughes' post-fight interview, St. Pierre got into the cage to challenge the hall-of-famer and told him "I was not impressed by your performance." Hughes' and his corner didn't like it very much, but the fans knew what he was doing.
They would go on to fight at UFC 65 for the second time with a new champion emerging in St. Pierre.
No. 3 Phil Baroni: "I'm the Best Eva!"
8 of 10
This is the only quote on the list that comes from the immediate reaction of fighter Phil Baroni after he knocked out Dave Menne at UFC 39. After defeating the former champion, Baroni jumped onto the side of the cage and screamed into the audience "I'm the best eva" several times before being announced the winner.
It may be the most famous and repeated post-fight quote from a MMA fighter, and it is one almost every fan knows.
No. 2 Forrest Griffin: "That's Just the Way I Am, I'm Just a Dog, I Fight"
9 of 10This quote described Forrest Griffin's fighting style, at least for the first half of his career.
The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 winner was coming off a close split-decision to Tito Ortiz at UFC 59 when he said this famous quote:
"I never said I was that good. But there’s nobody in this sport at 205 you put me in with, and I won’t make it a fight. That’s just the way I am. I’m just a dog. I fight. Period. I’m not that technically good. I’m not that great. But I’m gonna fight and I’m in good shape. That’s it. That’s all you need.”
No. 1 Randy Couture: "Not Bad for an Old Man."
10 of 10
Randy Couture retired from MMA after losing for the second time to Chuck Liddell in February 2006.
Early in 2007, he made an announcement he was returning to the sport to challenge UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia at UFC 68.
At 43, it was a fight nobody really expected the hall-of-famer and two-division champion to win, but he proved everyone wrong and dominated the "Maine-iac" for five rounds before being awarded a unanimous decision.
Couture's post-fight quote "Not bad for an old man" is one of the most memorable moments for a fighter that only comes around once in a lifetime, and he still continues to fight at 47.
