WWE Draft 2011 Results: Comparing the Raw and Smackdown Brands After Draft
Yesterday on RAW, we had the annual WWE Draft.
We started the show with the battle royal, which gave SmackDown a new face in John Cena. We started out with a big surprise. The following moves were: Rey Mysterio to RAW, Randy Orton to SmackDown (I'm sure nobody saw this coming), Mark Henry to Smackdown, Sin Cara to Smackdown, The Big Show to RAW, Alberto Del Rio to RAW and lastly, John Cena back to RAW (wow, less than two hours in SmackDown, that has to be some kind of record).
After the TV Draft, there seems to be a bit more of a balance between the rosters, unlike last year, when RAW got most of the Main Eventers.

RAW gets a star in Mysterio, a big guy in the Big Show and a future star in Alberto Del Rio. And losses exactly those same things, Orton (star), Mark Henry (big guy) and Sin Cara (future star?).
Even though no champion changed brands, a No. 1 contender did and after Extreme Rules, RAW could have two World Champions if Del Rio wins his match against Christian.
So, not much of a change in the rosters because of Cena's two moves, first to SmackDown and then back to RAW, which meant that only six guys changed shows instead of eight.
Today at noon ET, the supplemental Draft took place. Though not as fancy as the televised one, it does change the landscape of the WWE.
This years moves were:
- Daniel Bryan to SmackDown
- Jack Swagger to RAW
- The Great Khali (with Ranjin Singh) to SmackDown
- Jimmy Uso to Smackdown
- Kelly Kelly to RAW
- JTG to RAW
- Alicia Fox to SmackDown
- William Regal to SmackDown
- Yoshi Tatsu to SmackDown
- Drew McIntyre to RAW
- Natalya to SmackDown
- Curt Hawkins to RAW
- Chris Masters to RAW
- Jey Uso to SmackDown
- Kofi Kingston to RAW
- Ted DiBiase to SmackDown
- Tyson Kidd to SmackDown
- Tamina to SmackDown
- Tyler Reks to RAW
- Alex Riley to SmackDown
- Beth Phoenix to RAW and, finally:
- Sheamus to SmackDown.
For a total of 30 picks, including both the TV Draft and the Supplemental Draft.
A lot of changes nobody cares about, but also a few important changes.
Bryan to Smackdown is one of those important changes, as he could bring some fresh air to the Intercontinental title, and could even win it, in a feud with Barret, who both won the first season of NXT in which Bryan was also a competitor and kicked him out of the original Nexus.
Swagger could get a feud with Cole, but won't have the same position he had on SmackDown, Khali could be on the rise and up for a feud with Mark Henry.
Regal and Tatsu bring some international flavour to the blue brand, who also has a new Tag Team in the Usos and a possible one in Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase.
Riley finally gets out of the Miz's wing and tries to fly solo. And they also get a new championship (and champion) in Sheamus, the current United States Champion, which puts both secondary titles on Friday nights for now.
On the other hand, we have RAW. They also get a Tag Team in Ryder and Hawkins and a couple of young stars with a very bright future in Drew McIntyre and Tyler Reks both of whom are destructive individuals that could shine if given the chance.
It seems like Orton and Kingston can't be on the same show, so both were drafted.
As for the Divas, not much to say, almost half of them changed shows but I doubt it'll have a great impact on either show.
This time it seem like both brands are in equal terms in Main Eventers and Mid carders, but in my opinion SmackDown has the better roster, because even though they've lost talented guys like Rey Mysterio, McIntyre or Alberto Del Rio they have acquired great substitutes and have an overall better roster than they had before the Draft.
While RAW has lot some star power and added more guys to the mid card, it seems like both shows have been considered equal and there is no clear top show anymore
