Roberto Alvarez-GallosoJan 24, 2011

Chelsea faced Bolton in a do-or-die game with their Premier League classification in doubt. The Blues themselves went into the game with anxiety and lack of confidence.

The first half was characterized by Drogba and Malouda surprising Bolton with their two goals. Drogba scores with an electrifying 30-yard rocket kick that surprised goalkeeper Jaaskelanien.

He did this within 11 minutes of the start of the match. It was then Malouda's turn, as he received the ball within a wide angle.

Malouda kicked another shot past the legs of Jaaskelanien who appeared shocked that he allowed a second goal within 41 minutes.

Both teams dominated the field but it was Chelsea that was surprising everyone. Bolton was not performing at its best level.

The first half ended Bolton 0, Chelsea 2.

The second half continued with Chelsea on its winning streak. Nicolas Anelka scored another goal within 56 minutes secondary to a cross from Essien. Jaaskelanien could only wander of he had lost the touch of the goalkeeper.

Ramires finished the slaughter of Bolton with his first goal for Chelsea since his arrival from Benfica in 74 minutes. Essien kicked the ball to Anelka who rebounded the ball.

Ramires proceeded to another goal from the rebound with a direct kick into the net. It appears that Chelsea has some life left in its possibility of advancing in the Premier League.

Chelsea captain John Terry was asked if Chelsea considered giving up the possibility of winning the EPL title.

He refused to make any concessions by stating that the Blues have been resilient in the past as well as the present.

The most valued players for the match were Drogba, Anelka, Ramires and Malouda. The match was played at Reebok Stadium in England before a crowd of more than 22,000.

The referee was C. Foy.
