Arsenal: Top 10 Players Club Wants To Sign, but Will They Succeed?

Twelve days remain until the January transfer window shuts and what happens at Arsenal FC is yet to be seen.

So far, various reports are dominating headlines all over Europe: Who will Arsenal sign?

Rumors and speculation among commentators and fans continue as we read about who Arsenal want.

But who they will get is a different story...

I admit this signing is a long shot.

The Daily Mail, who have a 18.3 percent accuracy rate on predicting transfers for Arsenal, have insisted with precision how Reina's time up at Liverpool will land him in the goal keeper's cage at Emirates Stadium come June.

The 24-year-old striker from FC Porto has been linked to Arsenal by The Sun, which has predicted correctly 43 out of 219 transfer rumors.  

With the striking power of Van Persie, Bendtner, Walcott and Chamakh, Falcao's time on the pitch may be limited.

At 31, Aston Villa's Dunne might just be the experienced player Arsenal need on a climbing young team.

And why not? Bordeaux's central defender couldn't hurt Arsenal's arguable goal-keeping issue.

6. Balazs Dzsudzsak

The PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder has been rumored to be sought out by Liverpool as well.

I say let Liverpool have him.

Arsenal have a strong enough—even overactive—midfield in Arshavin, Fabregas, Nasri, Song...need I go on? 

5. Per Mertesacker

Werder Bremen's German international may fit in nicely as center back with Arsenal.  

The Daily Mirror, which has a 21 percent accuracy rate on predictions, got wind of this potential signing.

Another Daily Mirror pick, the English footballer from West Ham, age 31, might bring in experience and could only strengthen the defense for the Gunners.

3. Christopher Samba

Unless you've been on holiday in a spot that doesn't sell a newspaper, namely The Daily Mirror, you would know that Samba is a realistic contender for Arsenal.  

After losing Vermaelen and Squillaci to injury, this Blackburn heavyweight would be the perfect solution to defend on Wenger's side.  

But Wenger will have to battle Aston Villa to win him.

2. Gary Cahill

The Bolton defender seems to have a choice between Arsenal and Chelsea, tout the Daily Mirror and the Daily Telegraph, which has been on target with transfer predictions for Arsenal 27 percent of the time.  

Out of 53 transfer rumors, 14 have come to fruition.

We're yet to see if the Gunners will match Chelsea's price of 20 million pounds for the Sheffield-born player.

1. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Last, but certainly not least, the No. 1 pick with the highest accuracy rate of 39.7 percent by The Times is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.  

According to The Times, his price tag is 10 million pounds, opposed to the Daily Mail's price tag reporting a measly 5 million pounds.

Liverpool and Tottenham are said to also vie for the Southampton star.

At 17, Oxlade-Chamberlain would be perfect for Arsenal's young side, especially if the Fabregas-going-to-Barcelona rumor happens to be true.
