10 Players Who Need a Transfer As Soon As Possible
Bad form, bad luck, or maybe they are just too good for the team they are on. Some players simply require a transfer to resurrect their career or to take it to the next level. This list certainly does not include every player rumored for a transfer, rather my top 10 who should be eyeing a move.
With the January Transfer Window fast approaching, here are 10 players who could be on the move very soon. Enjoy!
Santa Cruz
1 of 10
After his 17.5 million transfer from Blackburn,Santa Cruz was expected to play an important role in Manchester City's quest for a Champions League spot. After impressing in his short stay at Blackburn lots was expected of the Paraguayan but a lack of first team opportunities and the transfers of Adebayor,Balotelli and Tevez has seen Santa Cruz fall down the pecking order at the Eastlands.Even when brought on Santa Cruz has shown rustiness due to extremely less playing time.An extremely able striker Santa Cruz is capable of scoring 18-20 a goals a season and a a transfer to another club which guarantees first team opportunities is desperately needed to resurrect his career before its too late.
Manuel Almunia
2 of 10
After a torrid 2009-10 season many expected Arsene Wenger to sign a new goalkeeper. But Wenger persisted with his present crop of goalkeepers and Almunia started the season as Arsenal's number1.A series of good displays was followed by a horror show against West Brom the same game in which Almunia picked up a mysterious elbow injury.During his absence Fabianski has put in a series of dazzling displays and seems to have established himself as Arsenal's new no1 goalkeeper and with young Polish shot-stopper Wojciech Szczęsny impressing in the limited opportunities Almunia will find it extremely tough to regain his place in the Arsenal line-up.And over the last few seasons it has been displayed time and time again that Almunia lacks the quality and consistency to play for Arsenal.A move to lesser club outside England will be perfect for him to end his career with respect.
Shay Given
3 of 10
Shay Given has to be one of the unluckiest players in the Premier League.Despite putting in impressive and dazzling displays for the past couple of seasons Shay Given finds himself relegated to the bench largely due to Joe Hart's impressive performances.Shay Given is unanimously considered to be one of the top keepers in the Premier League and one could get the feeling that was it any other Premier League,Given would be starting most of the games. But Hart's heroics sees Given warming the bench and it doesnt seem to be changing in the near future.A transfer to another top club within England most notably Man Utd would be ideal for Given's career.
Gareth Bale
4 of 10
This may seem as an extremely contentious choice to many. But the reason I have put him on the list is because over the past few weeks it has become extremely evident that Tottenham are over reliant on the Welsh winger.Although this guarantees him a first team place on the long run this is bad for both the club and the player.Bale could become a victim of fatigue and the pressure of delivering week in and week out may see him plateau as a player. If Tottenham wait for too long they may potentially lose out on a big transfer fee. Also if Tottenham's recent form are anything to go by they will find it extremely tough to finish in the top-4 and a player of Bale's quality should be playing for Europe's premier competition. Many top sides have shown a lot of interest in Bale most notably Barcelona and Inter Milan and a transfer to these sides would do wonders for his career.
Wes Brown
5 of 10
Most Man Utd fans would be wondering how Wes Brown plays for Man Utd.A player of Wes Brown's quality does not have the temperament, quality to play for a prestigious club like Man Utd.Often caught out by the opposition Wes Brown is often the weak link in Man Utd's defence and its become characteristic for the opposition to target him.A the recent game against Aston Villa was testimony to his woeful defence as he was caught out of position various times and conceded the penalty that led to Villa's goal.Mediocre at his best chances for Brown have been drying up and with the signing of Smalling, chances will further reduce.A transfer to a lower decision would be ideal for him as his defensive frailties would be exposed on lesser occasions.
Michael Owen
6 of 10
A case of a great player well past his prime,Owen has been struggling for form and fitness and he seems to be losing the battle.Owen has been ravaged by injuries and has struggled to cope up with the pace and physicality of the Premier League in the past few seasons.Since his free transfer to Man Utd,Owen has been good but only in patches and with the emergence of Javier Hernandez, chances of Man Utd extending Owen's contract are slim and a move to the Championship maybe the right remedy for Owen's fading career.
Scott Parker
7 of 10
Scott Parker must be killing himself.Despite repeated advances from Tottenham to sign the player in the summer transfer window,West Ham refused to sell their captain. And now instead of playing European football and Parker and West Ham are languishing at the bottom of the table and look prime candidates for relegation.A player of Parker's quality should be a playing for a better team and if he has to fulfill his immense potential a transfer as soon as possible is required and Tottenham look like prime candidates to get the midfielder.
Fernando Torres
8 of 10
Torres has a big burden to carry-take Liverpool into the UCL once again. But Torres has been looking like a lost soul for much of this season as fatigue and pressure seem to be weighing him down.Despite repeated assurances that he is comfortable at Anfield thats the last thing he looks now.Despite scoring four in the last four games,Torres does not seem to be enjoying his football and at the peak of his career thats the last thing you want to hear about one of the World's best striker. One major reason for his poor form this season is the lack of service from his teammates and Liverpool seem to be heading for another poor finish in the table.Torres left Atletico Madrid to win trophies but at the present rate Liverpool will struggle for a spot in even the Europa League.A person who possess the quality, sharpness and flair of Torres a move to big club in either Spain or even in England is a must otherwise Torres will end up spending the peak of his career surrounded by mediocrity.
Christian Poulsen
9 of 10
Another of Hodgson's mediocre transfers. In his short stay at Liverpool Poulsen has already looked miserable and out of depth in the Premier League.Large sections of Anfield are already disappointed with his pathetic showings and have started calling for his immediate transfer. He lacks neither the creativity, composure or quality to make it big in the Premier League and it would be better for both parties if a transfer away from Liverpool is finalized.Having mediocre talents like Poulsen sends out a wrong message not only to future transfer prospects but also to your fans.So for the sake of club and for the player himself its better he gets a transfer quickly before he makes a mockery of himself.
Charles N'Zogbia
10 of 10
One cannot help but get the feeling that very often than not Charles N'Zogbia is carrying Wigan on his shoulders.N'Zogbia has been exceptional in a mediocre team.An extremely creative presence,N'Zogbia has been scoring as well as creating goals.N'Zogbia has been one of the bright lights in what is turning out to be another disappointing and poor season for Wigan and relegation looks like a certainty if they continue their present form. After a move to Birmingham fell through this summer,a transfer to a top club in England or France will provide him the with the perfect exposure and a platform to fulfill his vast potential.
