WWE Fan Appreciation Day 10/30/10 Results and Review: Triple H Returns!

Graham GSM MatthewsOct 30, 2010

I got there around 2:45 and the hallways at the XL Center were packed! Not much merchandise was being sold, and I was tight on cash, so we didn't bother.

We were in 213, all the way in the back, so most of the seats were open, but we had one hell of a view.

It was a basic house-show opening, no big ramp or stage. The Bragging Rights trophy was in the middle of the ramp. The seats began to fill up when the show started, and it was packed.

Monday Night RAW

The WWE Company overview video aired, and Howard Finkel announced the show. The Star Spangled Banner played.

Big Show won a 24-Man Battle Royal (No. 1 Contenders for Intercontinental Championship)

The participants made their way down to the RAW theme. Participants included Big Show, R-Truth, Vladimir Kozlov, Zack Ryder, Jack Swagger, Kaval, Yoshi Tatsu, Mark Henry, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Primo, JTG, Alex Riley, David Otunga, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd, Chris Masters, Ted DiBiase, Goldust, M.V.P., Tyler Reks, and Ezekiel Jackson.

Pretty decent battle royal. Nexus were the first to go. Ezekiel throwing Kaval out got a big pop, and when every Big Show dominated someone. The Hart Dynasty got eliminated and fought each other outside the ring.

The match came down to Big Show, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre. The heels took out Henry and Show tossed them out to win it.

United States Champion Daniel Bryan def. The Miz (with Alex Riley) to retain the title

The Miz cut a promo to huge heat about appreciating himself and how fans shouldn't copy his catch phrase. I marked out. Daniel Bryan came down to not much pop which surprised me.

The match was solid and got great time similar to their match at Night of Champions. Daniel Bryan won with a roll-up. Following the match, both Riley and Miz attacked Bryan.

Melina Won a Dance Contest

The anonymous GM chimed in saying in honor of Fan Appreciation Day, he was giving the fans a Diva Dance Contest. Yawn. It included Melina (who came out to the biggest pop of the Divas), Layla (who came out with her belt without Michelle and the biggest heat of the Divas), Gail Kim, Maryse, Alicia Fox, Kelly Kelly and Natayla.

It was a bore-fest for 5 minutes with no reaction, with Melina win after her signature split she does. They fought afterwards between the faces and heels.

Mr. McMahon Addressed the WWE Universe

Mr. McMahon, who I didn't know was going to be there, came out to a big pop. I went crazy and amongst other people, did the bow for the legend we call the WWE Chairman.

He said he appreciates everything we do for WWE and to feel free to wear WWE Merchandise to voting Tuesday (LOL!).

Sheamus def. John Morrison

Decent match with no botches, and this two would make a good feud. It went for a while, and no reaction was made throughout the entire match.

Morrison went for a Starship Pain only for Sheamus to reverse and hit the Brogue Kick. Nice finish.

WWE Champion Randy Orton def. Wade Barrett to retain the title

Barrett came out to great heat, heat of a main event player. I was too busy cheering for the British Brawler. Orton came out to the biggest pop of the night.

The match was very similar to their match at Bragging Rights, solid but not that exciting until the end. Nexus interfered and Orton won with an RKO. Huge reaction and the crowd went nuts. An intermission followed.

Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler def. Big Show (with Hornswoggle) by count-out to retain the title

I don't know if anyone else thought this, but I know this wasn't going to end clean. Big Show chased Ziggler out the ring and later dominated him in the ring. Ziggler locked in the Sleeper to Show outside, and Ziggler got the count-out victory.

I was glad Ziggler looked strong. Following the match, Show knocked out Ziggler and Hornswoggle followed up with a Tadpole Splash.

Triple H def. Alberto Del Rio

Alberto del Rio came out to his announcer, Ricardo Rodriguez, and said Mysteiro couldn't make it. Surprised, Mysterio was heavily advertised. Before he was about to win by forfeit, I expected Edge or Kofi Kingston to come out. Instead, IT WAS TRIPLE H!

Everyone knew he was he supposed to be there, but not in this capacity. HHH stormed down, posed, and wrestled. HHH had no beard, had street clothes on, and the roof exploded off the XL Center with his pop.

With street clothes on, HHH wrestled a good match. He hit the spinebuster and followed up with huge Pedigree that had the crowd go nuts. He cheered after and Pedigreed the announcer Rodriguez as well. Vintage HHH.

John Cena def. World Heavyweight Champion Kane by DQ

It was announced earlier in the evening that Big Show would be replaced in the World Title match due to winning the battle royal. I expected it to be Edge since he was pulled from the line-up, but it was none other than John Cena, a huge surprise seeing he wasn't supposed to be there.

Imagine how many people didn't go to the show just because they thought John Cena wasn't going to be there? LOL! Anyway, John Cena got the biggest pop of the night, besides HHH, and from what I heard there wasn't a lot of boos if at all.

I expected a terrible match like the one we got on Smackdown a few weeks back, but it turned out to be the Match of the Night!

These two hit all their signatures and finishers and had me along with the rest of the WWE Universe in suspense on how this was going to end.

Like I predicted, Nexus interfered and attacked Cena when he nearly won with the STF. The heels came down first and beat down Nexus. Then HHH came out and sent in the faces. They cleared house of all heels, with Orton, Big Show, Cena, HHH, and Barrett in the ring.

Cena hit AA on Barrett, and Cena got on the mic and thanked the fans for coming. The faces stuck around and signed autographs.

Final Review

Of all the shows I've been to, two being WWE and four being Independent, this was by far the best show I've ever been too.

Last year's RAW in the XL Center was lackluster and ended on a sour note, so this so really made my WWE experience special.

The tickets were only 10 bucks, and in addition, Fink was giving out free merchandise all throughout the show!

The fan interaction was great, and everyone seemed psyched with the outcome. I'm wondering on how this will play out on TV with the return of HHH, McMahon, and the Cena's disloyalty to Nexus.

Next time, however, I would like to see Kofi Kingston, Chris Jericho, CM Punk, and Undertaker seeing they didn't make the event.

In conclusion, the show was awesome. I definitely suggest go to WWE.com and checking out the photos if you weren't among the lucky ones to attend.

It's nice to know WWE is right in our own backyard. For once in my life, I'm proud to say I'm a proud resident of Connecticut, THANK YOU, WWE!
