Ronaldinho Out As Allegri Makes Major Changes for Milan; Robinho, Boateng In

Following the 2-0 loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday, AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri is ready to make some major changes to improve the squad, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Milan have shown fluctuating performances of late, having failed to put together an absolutely successful match since August 29th, a 4-0 win over Lecce on the first day of the season.

Despite this, the Rossoneri sit level with Inter Milan for second place in Serie A, two points behind leaders Lazio, and are level with Ajax on four points in Group G of the Champions League, five behind Real Madrid.

Allegri has been criticized for his strange lineup choices, most notably leaving new fan favorite, Kevin-Prince Boateng, on the bench in favor of Clarence Seedorf and Gennaro Gattuso. Both have been playing due to the injury to Massimo Ambrosini, whose status for the near future is unknown. Allegri also has to decide whether or not to stick with Daniele Bonera at center back while Thiago Silva recovers from a leg injury picked up against Chievo.

Two months into his post as Milan manager, Allegri is hoping to change the tide of the season, as he is prepared to have a change in tactics ahead of Monday's clash with Napoli at the San Paolo.

Brazilian legend Ronaldinho is also not in Allegri's plans for Monday. Reports are that he has recovered from a muscle strain that has been bothering him of late. Despite this, the two-time World Player of the Year, who has played as the trequartista for Milan, is expected to sit on the bench in place of Robinho.

Boateng is likely to be reintroduced into the starting eleven, with the 23-year old Ghanaian replacing Clarence Seedorf.

With these changes, Milan hopes to add a little more life into a seemingly dull squad. However, many will still argue that Milan must desperately pursue a fullback and a holding midfielder in the winter transfer window. Critics and fans have slammed the defense this season, primarily the right fullback slot usually filled by Gianluca Zambrotta, but also by Ignazio Abate, Sokratis and Daniele Bonera.

Those issues will be addressed in January.

With the squad at hand, it seems likely that Robinho and Boateng will appear on Monday night, but no confirmation has been made on other issues, among them whether or not Marco Amelia, who played very well on Tuesday, will keep the starting goalkeeper spot if Christian Abbiati is healthy.

Whatever happens, expect a different Milan team than has been seen in recent weeks, as the club seems determined to push for trophies this season.
