Manchester United: 5 Reasons Why Wayne Rooney Will/Should Leave United

Maxx GOct 21, 2010

Wayne Rooney decides to leave his club Manchester United. This has by now been known to everyone. When the world was searching for reasons and thinking of a conflict between Rooney and his manager Sir Alex Ferguson, recent reports revealed Rooney reasons of leaving the club.

A move is certain on the cards in this winter transfer window to clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City or Real Madrid and United is looking up for replacements to fill in the shoes of the star striker.

In my last article, I have mentioned about the choices available for United as replacements

In this article, I have aimed to reveal the reasons as to why Wayne Rooney will/should leave his club.

Rooney will leave his club for his own reasons, and then he should leave the club for the benefits of the club and some other reasons. Let us take a look at these reasons. While you may agree to these or may not, any suggestions or opinion are most welcome.

It looks like a weak season for United, but we still hope for better times to come.

As the media revealed the reason from Rooney’s words, he misses the ambition in the air of Old Trafford. He said that he is hungry, but there is not enough hunger he feels here.

He was with United for a long time, and in all this time, United has won awards and won competitions.

Wayne Rooney was the man on whose shoulders United tried to move forward last season, and this year too, he was the main hope for the Red Devils. But as he said, he is not going to carry United anymore.

He had talks with the board about the future squad and they could not come out with a clear answer. So, Rooney is here deeply moved and frustrated about the club’s future and sees the ambition vaporizing fast in air.

He misses consistent support and the influx of new and world class talents in the squad. He once dreamt of playing for United with talents like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, and now misses the dream.

He desires of winning trophies with strong support and a new squad, who has no debt structures like United.

Rooney Cannot Earn Silverware Alone

Wayne Rooney was the main marketing tool of Manchester United, who wanted to ride with the image of the white monster infront. They were successful in their attempt to do so, but unfortunately Rooney was never monstrous enough to eat away all the trophies on his own.

The reason for writing this point is, Wayne Rooney is good, and was the most successful player of United as per last season. But Wayne Rooney is no Diego Maradona who could win a WC all by himself. There lies the difference. And there lies the origin of frustration.

What is Rooney thinking? When he said, that he is not sure about the future squad of the club and is not going to carry United anymore, then does it reveal out the fear in him? Is he afraid of the fact that fans were going to blame him, that he was never good enough to guide the club to Silverwares?

On the other hand, Rooney may be right somewhere. The club is in wrong hands, and we are seeing no big money transfers as we had before due to the enormous debts of the owners. And that makes the club in such a bad position. No influx of good talents, an aging squad and raging matches of over dependence on a forward, how worse can it get?

The Sale Means Money To Strengthen the Squad

While Wayne Rooney is in a serious under performing state, but the sale will still earn a large sum of money, nearing to about 30m.

This will help to boost up the squad, in specific places where needed.

Antonio Valencia is out with injury and though Nani has successfully dropped into the role of a Right winger. However, Ryan Giggs at the left wing is too old and not regular too.  So, there United needs players.

The defense looks too fragile with an old Rio Ferdinand and shaky Johny Evans. So, United needs reinforcements there too. Gregory Van Der Wiel is in the wish list of United as Sir Alex has been looking for a replacement to Gary Neville and Wes Brown.

Goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar also is at 40 and needs to be replaced in the next season.

The need of a central playmaker remains naked and screaming in the squad, with Paul Scholes nearing his retirement.

So, in all, we need reinforcements here and there, to build the team again, to add firepower, to win silverwares.

Is it true for Rooney, Money tastes sweeter than Honey?

Rooney earns a sum of £90,000 per week as his wages in Manchester United.

However, he is now understanding that he is far short of the rich City style wages since United is not backed by any rich Arab dad like City. The extreme pathetic debt conditions of the United owners restrains to pay such high wages to Rooney.

So, has Rooney find the excuse to leave the club, is it money that mattered finally?

No Player Bigger Than the Club, Not Even an Off-Form Rooney

Yes, you read it right. No player can ever be bigger than the club. Wayne Rooney has been just pathetic or rather less than ordinary in his World Cup performance and then also at the beginning of the season for United.

As I told in my articles earlier, he has been like a shadow of himself.

He has been involved in a big scandal, which weakens the respect of fans towards a player like him. Do you want an example? John Terry. And Wayne Rooney may soon join his scandalized England team mate in Chelsea.

No player was or ever will be bigger than the club. A great club is characterized by its greatness here, it will not be paralyzed if the player leaves but fight and win back with newer talents. There is no lack of talents there, and form is temporary.

Who can say, is Wayne Rooney not heading towards a Michael Owen career? Lost in the shadows?

Though the facts will remain straight on ends, though at the end of the day we will hate Glazer brothers, though it seems to be a bleak scenario for the Red Devils at the moment, but we have hopes.

And we hope that we will make another new God. Because we have made Cristiano. We have made the world known of Rooney. And we will make the next too.
