2010 FIFA World Cup: England Loses To Rest of the World This Weekend
Ease your concerns, English fans. No one was seriously injured, diminishing your chances to win the World Cup.
I mean they lost to the "Rest of the World" literally.
In the third edition of Soccer Aid, a British charity event that sees celebrities and legendary players suit up to pit England against the Rest of the World to raise money for UNICEF, an unlikely hero gave England their first ever loss in the match's history.
It was none other than Woody Harrelson (Zombieland , No Country for Old Men , Cheers ) who managed to cap the victory by scoring the game-winning goal in the shootout as the 11th shooter.
The match was a tightly contested affair, with the teams finishing at a score of 2-2, following a late goal by Sami Hyypia for Rest of the World in the 78th minute, before heading to the penalties.
England had taken an early two-goal lead, with goals from Jamie Redknapp and Teddy Sheringham for England at 45' and 61' respectively. Rest of the World responded with a goal by Joe Calzaghe in the 64th before Hyypia tied it up.
The complete rosters for the two teams were as follows.
