Celtics Aint Dead Yet...we Beat The Lakers.
So the Celtics just traded Eddie House and some injury prone practice players to New York for Nate Robinson and a new practice player. I've heard a lot of apprehension from people about possible chemistry issues "lil him" might present, however I dont think it'll be a problem.
First off, I LOVE Eddie House, I love his attitude, I love his energy, I love watching him drill consecutive three pointers. I love how he stretches the floor when Allens on the bench. But his touch has been off lately, he can't play D, he gets raped when he tries to bring the ball upcourt, and the C's are in desperate need of fresh legs and instant offense off the bench.
Enter Nate Robinson.
The Celtics already have a reputation as the biggest shit-talkers in the league, but they've been struggling with focus and intensity down the stretch. If Nate Robinson can come off the bench and score 15 points while talking nonstop shit, I dont see how our chemistry would suffer. Not only is he used to a reserve role, but he's spent many games benched by D'antoni in New York. I doubt being a valued and respected part of a championship-caliber teams bench would rub him the wrong way.
Past that, I'm glad we kept Ray Allen. A lot of people were calling for him to be traded, but I've been against it from the start (well, maybe for Iggy...maybe). Ray is an irreplaceable part of our chemistry and our offensive playbook. He spaces the floor, he mentors young players, he hits clutch shots. He is our top +/- player on court.
Even the great players have bad months, and trading him away because of a bad month with all he gives us is nonsense. On top of that, if he really wants to retire a Celtic and sign for considerably less next year, that's perfect. Most teams would kill for Ray Allen on their bench.
A lot of people have been counting the Gang Green out as a contender down the stretch, but I don't see it as such. I see the Celtics finally gelling as a team with their full roster for the first time this season.
Like a boxer training for a fight, I see them coming together and getting stronger and more comfortable as the season winds down, and peaking just in time for the off-season. Once we're in playoff mode, I cant see the ultra- competitive KG giving anything but 110%, regardless of concern for his health, I can't see Paul Pierce not driving the lane and picking up key free throws in the closing minute of a tight game, can't see Ray not popping off for consecutive threes.....you get the point. This is a competitive, trash-talking team stacked with All-Star veterans.
Stay vigilant, Beantown, don't give up and keep rootin for your boys.
PS, my first time writing on here, be gentle.
PPS- We just beat the Lakers, and I don't give a crap if kobe was playing or not, I'm stoked.
