Why Americans Should Accept Bob Bradley As Their Manager
Going into the United States' match against El Salvador on February 24, many questions have arisen over the United States squad for this friendly, which mainly consists of MLS players.
Due to the skill of the 23 players that have been called, some people have once again started to call for the United States' coach's job, just five months before the World Cup will start in South Africa.
Now, with this in mind, here are some of the reasons why I believe that Bob Bradley should remain as the head coach of the United States National Soccer team.
1. His Success
Throughout his tenure as the head coach of the US National Team, Bradley has had tremendous success with a record of 34-6-17 since he took over from Bruce Arenas after the 2006 World Cup.
Bradley has also helped the United States to win the 2007 Gold Cup and get to the 2009 Gold Cup final with mainly "B" players after the United States used their "A" players in the Confederations Cup in June, where they were able to make it to their first ever FIFA final.
And Bradley was just able to lead the United States to win the CONCACAF hexagonal and get the United States the number one seed out of CONCACAF.
2. He has been a Strong Motivator
Whenever all hope appeared to be lost for the United States, Bradley has been able to motivate the United States to victory.
A perfect example of this was the final group match of the Confederations Cup against a strong Egyptian side.
The United States had just lost 3-1 and 3-0 to Italy and Brazil respectively, and appeared to be on the way out of the tournament before Bradley was able to motivate the United States to a 3-0 victory when all hope appeared to be lost.
3. His Selection of Young Players
During his time since he has taken over the National Team, Bob Bradley has helped the United States replace the old generation of players such as Claudio Reyna, Eddie Pope, Kasey Keller and Brian McBride with players such as Michael Bradley, Jonathan Spector, Brad Guzan and Jozy Altidore, among others.
And these young players were a major key for the United States throughout the last several years in World Cup qualifying and in the Confederations Cup.
4. The Timing of the World Cup
Even if there were supposed to be a coaching change, now is not the time to do it with the World Cup coming up in June.
Moving Bradley out now would be a terrible move for the United States and it would completely ruin their performance and any confidence that they might have in the World Cup.
5. The Players
This one feeds in with number four, but the players want Bob Bradley to be their coach in South Africa, and he should remain there.
Bradley has put faith into his players, and the players have definitely responded for the United States with their great play under Bradley.
Throughout his time as the US coach, Bradley has helped the team to succeed, and there should be nobody stopping him with the World Cup coming up in June.
He has done an admirable job as the coach of the United States National Team since 2006, and hopefully he will continue that in the World Cup.
