Donte' Stallworth: Might Be Very Motivated, Reportedly Working Out For Lions

Daniel WolfFeb 9, 2010

In the same day that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth, the Browns cut ties with him making him an unrestricted free agent.

Stallworth was suspended for the 2009 season by Goodell due to his car accident in March 2009, when he was driving drunk and hit and killed pedestrian Mario Reyes.

Now that Stallworth is free from his Browns contract, which had him signed until 2014, he can sign with any team in need of a receiver that will be highly motivated to put the past behind him.

Stallworth may have several teams in need of a receiver calling him soon and here is another article showing what teams might be interested.

The biggest question right now is he still in NFL shape, physically, and ready to step back onto the football field.

Various reports have said that Stallworth has been diligently working out so that he can show an interested team that he is ready to continue his football career.

One thing may help in Stallworth's track back into football and that will be his desire to succeed.

Most likely an interested team will offer him a one-year contract with a low risk dollar amount to see what he can bring to the team in the 2010 season.

The Browns were the fourth team in Stallworth's seven-year career and he has 296 receptions for 4,383 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Stallworth might be a surprise catch, if he can play at a high level once again.

UPDATE -  2-9-10 4:49pm EST: Drew Rosenhaus, Stallworth's agent, has told the media that Stallworth will be working out for the Detroit Lions on Wed. Feb. 10.
