Sean Lee: 2010 NFL Draft Player Profiles
Sean Lee—ILB/OLB, 6'2" 230 lbs., 3/4 Round Pick
Pros
Lee is a natural tackler. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time, and he plays with great intelligence and instincts. Lee is just as strong as he is fast to the ball, and he has the ability to turn on an intensity switch during game time.
He is also just as good in pass coverage as he is at run stopping. The Penn State leader has the versatility to be a 4-3 outside linebacker or a 4-3/3-4 middle linebacker. This will make him much more valuable to certain teams considering him.
Though it was Navarro Bowman who got most of the publicity in 2009, it was Sean Lee who was still thought of as the leader. This leadership and passion for the game is a huge plus for most teams.
Cons
Lee lacks the elite size for an NFL linebacker. He has pretty much peaked at about 230-235 lbs., so putting him in the middle could be some concern for some teams.
The biggest question about Lee will be the injury in 2008. Lee suffered a complete ACL tear and many teams are still concerned about his longevity. He seemed to be OK during the 2009 season, but that is still a tough injury to fully recover from.
Lastly, teams will be concerned about his age. Lee will be 24 in his first NFL game; two years older than the average rookie.
Overview
Lee looks to be a very safe pick in this coming NFL draft. He still has the potential to be an elite tackler, but he will probably never be an All-Pro.
What teams can expect is a very smart, intense player, who will do anything to help his team win. Lee loves the game of football, which will make him a good fit to any football team.
