Terrell Owens Runs His Mouth Again

Phillip SchmitzFeb 1, 2010
In a interview with USA Today Terrell Owens said:
I know hands-down I'd be close to Jerry Rice's records if I had been with quality quarterbacks like he had. He had Joe Montana and he finished with Steve Young. That wasn't a dropoff.

Say I had been with a guy like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Drew Brees all of my career. Are you kidding me?

Are you kidding me? Terrell you once said that you "love me some me," and the irony is when you retire (which can't be soon enough) that is all you will have. You seriously think that you will be near Jerry Rice's numbers if you had the QBs that Rice had compared to the ones you had? Really? Let's look at the QBs you've played with.

First you started out with Steve Young , a Hall of Famer.
Then you had Jeff Garcia . During the time Garcia was your quarterback, he went to three Pro Bowls (2000, 2001, 2002).
Then it was Donovan McNabb for a year and a half. McNabb went to the Pro Bowl in 2004, and guided the Eagles to Super Bowl XXXIX. Also McNabb is one of the best QBs this decade.
Then half of a season with Drew Bledsoe . Okay I'll give you a pass on that cause Bledsoe wasn't the same guy he was five or 10 years ago at that time.
That led to Tony Romo , who took over Drew Bledsoe midseason. In Romo's two-and-a-half years playing with you he was voted into the Pro Bowl twice (2006, 2007).
Buffalo is the first city you haven't had a QB that wasn't one of the best in the NFL, but you still have played with multiple Pro Bowlers at the quarterback position. So you don't really have an argument in that department. But don't tell Terrell Owens that, cause in his little mind he thinks he's right.

You can't compare yourself to Jerry Rice. Firstly, Rice was a football player; he was more than a wide receiver. A guy that was not just one of the greatest receivers in NFL history, but the greatest wide receiver. Period. He never quit, and he never called out his teammates or his quarterbacks. He ran great routes and didn't quit on his routes. Oh, and he rarely dropped the ball.

All those things that Rice did, you haven't. Not because you can't, because you choose not too. You quit on your team and stop putting effort on the field. You consistently called out your quarterbacks (Garcia, McNabb, Romo, Bledsoe), but like a coward you did it after you left town. You have horrible hands, and drop balls left and right. So simply, shut the hell up.

Even Jerry Rice doesn't have any respect for you. When Isaac Bruce left St. Louis, he signed a contract to play for the 49ers. During his great career with the Rams, Bruce wore No. 80. When he went to San Fran, Jerry Rice said that he wouldn't have a problem if Isaac Bruce wore No. 80.
Rice respected Bruce because Bruce played the game in many ways like Rice did. Hard work ethic, team player, respected among his peers. But Bruce declined and didn't wear No. 80, showing his respect for Rice and his legacy as a 49er great. You think Rice would do the same to Owens if Owens wore No. 80?

Yes, you might be in the NFL's best players of the decade Terrell, but you're also on the all-decade team for never shutting your mouth. You're not a Hall of Famer, even though you might have the numbers to be in. If Cris Carter can't get in the Hall of Fame as a first ballot, then you cant get in. PERIOD. All I hope is one of these days someone tapes your mouth shut.
