Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Were 'Inspired' by Mike McCarthy Smashing Watermelons
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes Mike McCarthy's decision to smash watermelons during a team meeting prior to Sunday's game helped lift the squad to a 31-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Appearing on NFL Network's Good Morning Football (h/t Ian Rapoport of NFL Network) on Wednesday, Jones said the team was "inspired" by McCarthy.
"I don't know if it was the watermelons, but they were inspired," Jones said. "If it takes knocking the water out of a watermelon before every game, I'll line up for that."

The Cowboys owner added that McCarthy "didn't know how much water was in" a watermelon when he smashed it.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday that McCarthy apologized to the Cowboys for not making clear their objectives leading up to the Vikings game, including to "hammer the ball out of [Minnesota running back] Dalvin Cook's hands," and then he "pull[ed] out a sledgehammer" and smashed multiple watermelons that had different objectives written on them.
While McCarthy's actions sound like something out of a bad Gallagher recreation, no one can argue with the final results.
The Cowboys' 31 points against the Vikings matched what they scored in the previous three games combined. They also ended a four-game losing streak, their longest skid since the end of the 2015 season.
