76ers Trade Rumors: Luke Kennard, Langston Galloway Among Philly's Targets

The Philadelphia 76ers have expressed interest in trading for Detroit Pistons guards Luke Kennard and Langston Galloway ahead of February's deadline.

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Saturday the Sixers have targeted both guards, along with free-agent forward Jeff Green, though there was no detail on what level of conversations the Sixers have had with Green or the Pistons.

As far as expendability goes, Galloway is a far more realistic target than Kennard. The 28-year-old has an expiring contract that pays him $7.3 million, which creates some salary matching issues but is manageable for the Sixers. Galloway is averaging 10.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game and would add some necessary off-the-bounce scoring, particularly from three-point range.

Kennard is a promising 23-year-old on a rookie contract. The Pistons have no particular reason to want to move him, even in a rebuild. He's by far the best player of the three mentioned but will also be the toughest to acquire. Galloway and Kennard for Mike Scott, Zhaire Smith and a first-round pick works under the salary cap, yet it seems unlikely the Pistons would be interested in that package.

Adding Furkan Korkmaz or Matisse Thybulle to the mix could make the deal more palatable, but the Sixers seem committed to keeping those young players as part of their rotation. Pompey reported Smith would likely form part of any trade package from the Sixers. The second-year guard has struggled to find his way and has been in the G League this season. 

Don't be surprised if we continue to hear more names connected to the Sixers ahead of February 6's deadline, as they're perhaps the contender most in need of bench scoring help.
