Isaiah Thomas: 'No Way in Hell Brad Stevens Doesn't Win Coach of the Year'
Isaiah Thomas made it known Wednesday there is only one correct choice for the voters when they cast their ballots for the NBA Coach of the Year award.
The two-time All-Star threw his support behind Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens on Twitter:
Thomas had the most successful run of his NBA career playing under Stevens from 2014-17. The 29-year-old was named to consecutive All-Star teams in 2016 and 2017, and he led the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals last campaign.
The Celtics went 55-27 this season despite losing Gordon Hayward for the year in the season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kyrie Irving, who was acquired in a deal that sent Thomas to Cleveland in August, missed 22 games in the regular season and hasn't played since March 11 because of a knee injury that required surgery.
Thomas was hobbled by injuries this season and had to have surgery on his right hip, which he initially hurt in March 2017. He appeared in just 32 games for the Cavs and Los Angeles Lakers. He shot a career-low 37.3 percent from the field, and his 15.2 points per game were his fewest since the 2012-13 season.
The Coach of the Year award will be handed out at the 2018 NBA Awards show on June 25 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
