George Springer Ties Joe Morgan's Astros Record with 6-6 Performance vs. A's
Houston Astros center fielder George Springer tied a club record set by Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Morgan with a 6-for-6 night Monday in the team's 16-2 victory over the host Oakland Athletics.
"I don't even know how to explain it," Springer told reporters. "I'm happy to get six hits in a week, let alone six hits in a game. I'm pretty speechless, to be honest."
The 28-year-old reigning World Series MVP, who went hitless in five at-bats Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, saw his batting average jump from .264 to .292 in one night. He didn't have more than three hits in any game this season before Monday.

MLB highlighted the memorable performance:
Morgan's six-hit game for the Astros came in a 12-inning loss to the Milwaukee Braves on July 8, 1965. The 10-time All-Star selection and two-time National League MVP crushed two homers in that contest.
Springer will look to keep the hit parade rolling Tuesday in Game 2 of the series against the A's.
