Giants Rumors: NY Won't Immediately Cut Ereck Flowers Despite Trade Reports
Offensive tackle Ereck Flowers will remain with the New York Giants, at least for the time being.
Per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, the Giants aren't going to cut the 2015 first-round pick despite being unhappy that he stayed away from the team facilities during voluntary workouts and minicamp so far this offseason.
This news comes after ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported the Giants shopped Flowers during last week's NFL draft, but couldn't find a trade partner willing to give them a mid-round pick.

Schwartz noted if Flowers doesn't show up to New York's mandatory veteran camp from June 12-14, it "could lead to a discussion about possibly sending him away." He added the team hopes to get him on the field to compete for a job.
Flowers has been the Giants' starting left tackle for the past three seasons. After the team signed free agent Nate Solder in March, head coach Pat Shurmur informed Flowers he would be competing for the starting job at right tackle in 2018.
Per Pro Football Focus, Flowers had an overall grade of 51.5 last season. Solder, who previously played for the New England Patriots, finished 2017 with a 75.7 grade.
Flowers is entering the final guaranteed year of his rookie deal that will pay him $2.4 million, per Spotrac. The Giants hold a $12.5 million option on the 24-year-old for the 2019 season they have until May 3 to pick up.
