Eagles Rumors: Philly Creates Cap Space by Reworking Brandon Brooks' Contract
The Philadelphia Eagles and guard Brandon Brooks agreed to a restructured contract that converts his $8.75 million base salary into bonuses.
Field Yates of ESPN reported the move will save the Eagles $6.37 million on their 2018 cap. Brooks, 28, originally had an $11.1 million cap hit.
A Pro Bowler for the first time last season, Brooks has proved himself well worth the five-year, $40 million contract he signed with the Eagles in 2016.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He overcame anxiety, which had been crippling during points of his career, to play in all 16 games and have the best season of his career to help lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl.
"But the thing that I'm most proud of is, I played all 16 games without having anxiety, without missing a game. That was my biggest goal," Brooks told Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times in February. "I'm more confident in myself than I've ever been. I'm more secure than I've ever been."
Converting his base salary into a bonus also increases the odds of Brooks being on the Eagles' roster in 2019. He was scheduled to have a $10.1 million cap hit against a $4.8 million dead cap, per Spotrac, but those numbers will adjust once his 2018 base is spread out over the remaining three years of his deal.
