Liverpool Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp Dismisses Mohamed Salah Exit Rumours

Matt JonesApr 12, 2018

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has no worries about Mohamed Salah leaving the club after his stunning debut season for the Reds.

Salah moved to the Reds from AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window and has surpassed all expectations, grabbing 39 goals already.

Given the incredible standards being set, there has been some speculation about the Egypt international moving to one of European football's biggest clubs, but Klopp told Bild he's not concerned (h/t Sport Witness).

"I know that Mo feels at home with us, and he knows that our playing style is totally his," the Liverpool boss said. "I'm not worried [he will leave]."

As Sport Witness noted, rumours a Spanish club will swoop for Salah have not been substantial. Although, as Jack Austin of The Independent reported, the head of Egypt's Football Association, Hany Abo Rida, said in January "there is a real chance [Salah] could play for Real Madrid next year."

Interest from the European champions would be no shock, as the 25-year-old has grown into one of the best players on the planet under Klopp.

He's having an extraordinary campaign:

Liverpool supporters will be revelling in the performances of their No. 11, who has been the catalyst behind their strong grip on a top-four spot in the Premier League and progression into the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Salah has been making crucial contributions for the team. He was on the scoresheet in both legs of the Champions League quarter-final tie against Manchester City; he grabbed the opener to settle nerves in the first leg at Anfield and the away goal that effectively sealed the tie in the return game.

With the former Roma man in such spectacular form, Reds fans will feel confident their side can go all the way in Europe this term.

Andy Kelly of the Liverpool Echo is noticing parallels between this season and Liverpool's last European Cup triumph:

Still, Liverpool supporters may grow a little concerned in the summer that Salah could leave because the club has regularly cashed in on its prized assets down the years.

In January, the Reds sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, while Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling, Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano and Fernando Torres were also let go after brilliant seasons. There will be a hope that in Salah's case, Liverpool are in a better position to dig in their heels.

Andy Heaton of The Anfield Wrap is hopeful signing for Liverpool will become an ultimate ambition for players:

Still, there's something special about Barcelona and Real Madrid, especially for attacking players. And if those clubs put a player at the top of their wishlists, they tend to get them, as was evidenced in the pursuit of Coutinho.

It's tough to see the former Chelsea man going anywhere in the immediate future, though, as the forward looks to be loving his football at Liverpool.

If the Reds can continue to challenge in Europe and potentially for the Premier League title next term, then perhaps Salah will feel he can realise his dreams at Anfield.
