Titans Pick QB Luke Falk in 6th Round to Groom as Marcus Mariota's Backup
The Tennessee Titans added to their quarterback depth chart and ended the long wait for former Washington State signal-caller Luke Falk with the No. 199 pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Bleacher Report's Matt Miller ranked the ex-Cougar as the No. 7 quarterback in this year's draft class following the combine.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The reaction from Twitter surrounded the fact that Falk was selected at the same spot the New England Patriots took Tom Brady in 2000:
Falk has three-plus years of starting experience under his belt from his time at Washington State, throwing for 14,481 yards and 119 touchdowns. While most quarterbacks pile up the numbers under coach Mike Leach, this 6'4", 223-pound passer completed 68.3 percent of his career attempts.
His best performance came as a sophomore, when he completed an impressive 69.4 percent of his passes for 4,561 yards and 38 touchdowns.
In a system that asks a quarterback to make more than 600 throws per season, his 39 interceptions in three-plus years is another credit to his accuracy.
His arm strength, on the other hand, remains a question mark. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein noted that 74 percent of Falk's passes at Washington State came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.
Like most quarterbacks, he is at his best when he has time to throw, as shown by Pro Football Focus Draft:
Falk may not be a day-one starter, but there is potential for his skill set to transition to the NFL. It will be up to Tennessee to put him into a position to succeed.
The Titans don't have a need for a starting quarterback with Marcus Mariota at the helm, but depth is essential.
Mariota hasn't played a full 16-game schedule in each of his first three seasons, so there's every reason to think Falk will eventually be called on to handle Tennessee's starting job. If he succeeds coming off the bench, it could lead to big things.
