Paul George Says He Has 'Mechanical' Issue with Shooting Form
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been on a cold streak, and so has Paul George.
He discussed the problem after Tuesday's loss to the Golden State Warriors, via Royce Young of ESPN.com:
"I gotta figure it out," George said. "Something mechanical in my shot. I've had struggles throughout the season and in my career shooting, but it's all just been not making shots. I don't know what it is. It feels funny—shooting the ball feels funny."
The forward scored 20 points in the 111-107 loss but finished only 5-of-19 from the field and 3-of-9 from behind the arc. He entered the game shooting just 37.8 percent overall and 28.6 percent from three-point range in 19 games since the All-Star break.
He hasn't shot 50 percent in a game since Feb. 14.
George remains a weapon for the Thunder, averaging 21.6 points per game. He also this year earned his fifth All-Star appearance in six seasons. Even when he isn't scoring, he can fill up a stat sheet in a lot of ways and play elite defense.
None of that has helped Oklahoma City, though, which has lost five of its last seven games.
The squad is sixth in the Western Conference with a 45-34 record but is just 1.5 games clear of being out of the playoffs. If the Thunder reach the postseason, they will need George to be more efficient in order to make any sort of run.
