Klay Thompson's Brother Trayce Claimed Off Dodgers Waivers by Yankees
The New York Yankees claimed outfielder Trayce Thompson, the brother of Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson, off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.
In a corresponding move, the Yankees placed right-handed pitcher Ben Heller on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow bone spur.
Thompson, 27, debuted with the Chicago White Sox in 2015 after he was selected in the second round of the 2009 MLB draft. As a rookie, he slashed .295/.363/.533 with five home runs and 16 RBI.

However, his production dipped after he was shipped to the Dodgers in December 2015.
Over the last two seasons, Thompson has batted .207 with 14 home runs, 34 RBI, 89 strikeouts and 32 walks in 317 plate appearances.
His addition will provide the Yankees with depth as they try to tread water with outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury (hip, oblique), Aaron Hicks (intercostal muscle strain), Clint Frazier (concussion) and Billy McKinney (shoulder sprain) all on the disabled list.
