Mauricio Pochettino Reportedly Set for New Spurs Deal Amid Real Madrid Rumours
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly confident manager Mauricio Pochettino will pen a new long-term contract with the club.
According to Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, Spurs are ready to make the coach one of the best-paid managers in the Premier League after the sterling job he's done in north London, with Real Madrid said to be admirers of the former Argentina international.
Adam Shergold of MailOnline—referencing Law's piece—claims the offer is a £3 million a year rise, worth a total of £8.5m a year.

A string of key players are reportedly ready to follow his example in the months to come, too. According to Law, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen, Hugo Lloris, Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen are all ready to pen new deals.
The willingness to be part of this project at Tottenham is understandable, as Pochettino has moulded this Spurs side into one of the best in the Premier League. They reinforced their status as such on Sunday, beating Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge to move eight points clear of their London rivals.

What made Tottenham's performance that day even more special was they won without star forward Kane in the starting XI, while key defender Toby Alderweireld was left out of the squad altogether.
Former Tottenham player Graham Roberts praised the work of the Spurs manager this season:
When Pochettino arrived at Spurs in 2014, the club were in need of some stability. Four years on, the 46-year-old has stamped his authority on the side.
Now Tottenham are a force to be reckoned with at their best. Not only are they one of the fittest and most physical teams in the Premier League, technically there aren't many sides capable of matching them, with the likes of Eriksen, Alli and Mousa Dembele a joy to watch.
The inconsistency Spurs were renowned for has been weeded out, too. Simon Stone of BBC Sport put into perspective the work being done by the coach given the club's history:
Of course, the challenge for Pochettino will be to keep this excellent work going, and some of his harsher critics will point to a lack of silverware as a big issue.
With Manchester City irresistible under Pep Guardiola, as well as Liverpool and Manchester United still looking strong near the top of the Premier League, getting his hands on a prize will be tough for the Spurs boss. The team are in the semi-finals of this season's FA Cup, though.
Nevertheless, Grup 14's Rafael Hernandez doesn't believe Pochettino's time at Tottenham will be defined by trophies:
According to the report, the lack of silverware hasn't put off Real Madrid from considering the Spurs chief as a possible replacement for Zinedine Zidane in the future.
Yet Pochettino appears keen to build something at Tottenham, and there are a number of wonderful players reportedly ready to do exactly the same.
