Lonzo Ball Questionable vs. Bucks After Knee Injury Diagnosed as Contusion
Los Angeles Lakers announced rookie Lonzo Ball is questionable for Friday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks after suffering a knee contusion Wednesday.
The point guard explained that the injury came from taking a knee to the back of his knee, causing a bruise in a different spot than his previously sprained MCL, per Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.
Ball came out after just 24 minutes last game against the Dallas Mavericks, which the Lakers won 103-93.
Injuries have been a significant problem for the No. 2 overall draft pick, as issues to his knee, shoulder and more have limited him to 52 games out of a possible 74. He seemed to have moved past the issues in March, but it seems his bad luck continued with the latest injury.
It has been an up-and-down year for Ball even when on the court. He has filled up the box score with averages of 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Unfortunately, his shooting has seriously held him to back to this point.
The guard is currently shooting 36 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from three-point range.
These issues and his injury problems have held the Lakers back, currently posting a 33-41 record. Although this is the most wins for the franchise since 2012-13, it's also the fifth-straight season without a playoff berth.
If he wants to change the story next season, he will have to figure out how to stay healthy.
In the meantime, Tyler Ennis could get more playing time at point guard if Ball is forced to miss time, although Josh Hart could also return to the lineup after missing time with his hand injury.
