Raw and SmackDown After WrestleMania: Who Should Return and Debut?

The Doctor Chris MuellerMar 22, 2018

WrestleMania 34 is WWE's most important night of the year, but the Raw and SmackDown editions that follow are just as important to set up the next 12 months.

Big returns the week after Mania are always fun, and management also uses those episodes to introduce new talents from NXT to the main roster.

The Revival had a memorable debut on the Raw after last year's showpiece event, and who could forget when Goldberg first appeared on WWE television the night after WrestleMania 19.

Having your big moment in front of a larger-than-usual crowd the night after the biggest pay-per-view of the year is a great way to start a WWE career.

This article will look at several Superstars who should either return to the company or make their main roster debut the week after WrestleMania 34.

Debut: Ronda Rousey (Raw In-Ring)

1 of 5

Ronda Rousey is set to make her in-ring debut at WrestleMania 34 in a tag team match with Kurt Angle against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

The next night on Raw should be her in-ring debut for the red brand. Rousey might not be ready to travel with the company on a weekly basis, but she should have a real singles match sooner rather than later.

Her tag match at Mania will be heavily choreographed to mask her inexperience, which means Triple H and Angle will likely do most of the heavy lifting during the bout.

However, Rousey is a world-class athlete. She might be ready to have her first real match by the Raw after WrestleMania. WWE has plenty of great performers who could help carry her such as Bayley, Sasha Banks and Mickie James, so there are plenty of opponents to choose from.

Return: Chris Jericho

2 of 5

Chris Jericho comes and goes as he pleases because he has earned the right to take time off to work on other projects after spending years gaining the respect of the fans and management.

His returns usually only happen when WWE has something interesting for him to do, and with an influx of talent over the past few years, there is no shortage of new names for him to feud with.

His long storyline with Kevin Owens was one of the best things on Raw throughout 2017, but his next program should be with someone different.

He is still fresh off facing Kenny Omega at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 12, so it might be interesting to see him feud with WWE's own former Bullet Club leader, Finn Balor.

Debut: Sanity

3 of 5

WWE hasn't had a dominant stable on the main roster since The Wyatt Family and The Shield broke up. The Hounds of Justice have reunited a few times, but it has never led to anything long term.

The company could benefit from another group coming in and running roughshod over the whole roster, and it has the perfect choice in NXT right now.

Sanity is made up of Eric Young, Killian Dain, Alexander Wolfe and Nikki Cross. They are an unconventional group of misfits who have battled the best and brightest in NXT.

They would do well on Raw or SmackDown. Cross would be an especially great addition to either women's division. She is completely different to anyone else on the roster and would shake things up with her unorthodox style of wrestling.

Young would be perfect for a run with the intercontinental or U.S. title, while Wolfe and Dain would give teams such as The Bar and The Usos a run for their money with the Tag Team Championships.

All four members of the group are impressive performers in the ring, but it's their characters and the energy they bring to the ring which makes them valuable.

Return: One of the Bellas

4 of 5

The women's division has a lot going for it right now, but most of the people we see featured regularly have only been with the company for a few years at the most.

Mickie James, Alicia Fox, Tamina and Natalya are the only Superstars you could call veterans, and with two of them out of action with injuries, James and Natalya are the only ones with several years of experience.

The Bella Twins were never known as the greatest in-ring technicians, but they have built a large following over the years.

Nikki or Brie would help add some variety to either brand and offer another veteran to the mix to help guide the new generation of talents.

Debut: Authors of Pain

5 of 5

There is nothing left for The Authors of Pain to do in NXT, so they are one of the most likely acts on this list to be called up the night after WrestleMania.

Akam and Rezar are two big bruisers who have shown great athleticism and an understanding of how to put together a good match.

With manager Paul Ellering by their side, AOP would be an incredible addition to the tag team division on Raw or SmackDown.

With The Bludgeon Brothers destroying everyone on SmackDown, putting Akam and Rezar on Raw seems like the best option.

We already know they can tear the house down with The Revival, and the possibility of seeing them face The Bar or Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows should get any fan excited.
