WWE Fastlane 2018: What Fans Are Marking Out for After PPV
WWE Fastlane 2018 is in the bag, and the show provided several clear-cut hints about which way the company may head in terms of SmackDown Live's booking for WrestleMania 34 on April 8.
AJ Styles managed to set up the match many hoped he would by coming through during Sunday's main event, but there was a huge twist in the women's division that left fans talking.
And while those two bouts weren't the only ones with major talking points, it's clear that there were spots in and among those contests that really had fans marking out.
With that in mind, here's a look at the results, and the moments, fans will have been most excited about following Fastlane.
Shane McMahon's Main Event Antics
1 of 3Although AJ Styles standing tall with the WWE Championship was the defining moment of Fastlane's main event, one other individual managed to steal some of the spotlight.
For months, Shane McMahon has been meddling in Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn's business, and that came to a head on Sunday night.
McMahon denied both Owens and Zayn the chance to win the title, and there are bound to be repercussions this coming Tuesday as the road to WrestleMania continues.
Will McMahon compete at Mania? Will he continue to cause problems for Owens and Zayn?
That remains unclear right now, but fans are definitely talking about the future for Shane coming out of Fastlane.
The Phenomenal One vs. The Artist
2 of 3Some fans may have been fearful that WWE would deny them the dream meeting between AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania—but now, it's finally official.
There's little doubting where this high-profile bout should sit on the Mania card—it simply has to close the show, because there's a very realistic chance nothing will top it.
Whether it takes that lofty position on the card remains to be seen, but irrespective of that, it's just great to see the bout finally confirmed courtesy of Styles' win at Fastlane on Sunday night.
It's bound to be spectacular, and it's a rivalry befitting of both Nakamura's and Styles' standing in WWE.
Forget SmackDown, this is the rivalry fans are talking about across the whole of WWE. Nothing comes close.
A Dream Women's Matchup
3 of 3The biggest surprise of the night came not in any of Fastlane's scheduled matches, but more after the conclusion of one of them.
It's felt like somewhat of a lock that Asuka would be facing Raw women's champion Alexa Bliss at WrestleMania for some time now.
However, WWE swerved everyone on Sunday when they had The Empress of Tomorrow appear at Fastlane and officially challenge Charlotte Flair to a title match at Mania.
Right now, this prompts more questions than answers.
For example, is Asuka moving to SmackDown full time? Is she trying to unify the belts? What does this mean for Raw's women's division?
The one thing that is clear is that all of a sudden, this bout is one fans are definitely marking out over.
