Clippers Rumors: Sean Kilpatrick to Sign 10-Day Contract with LA
The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly adding depth on the wing.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Sunday the team is signing guard Sean Kilpatrick to a 10-day contract. The Cincinnati product is eligible for a playoff roster and was most recently on the Milwaukee Bucks before they waived him Friday.
This comes after Wojnarowski reported Milwaukee waived Kilpatrick in order to sign Shabazz Muhammad.
In January, Milwaukee converted Kilpatrick's two-way contract—which he was on after the Brooklyn Nets waived him in December—into a standard NBA contract. He played 16 games for Brooklyn and averaged 4.9 points and 2.2 rebounds a night and then 23 games for the Bucks, averaging 4.0 points and 1.1 rebounds.
While the numbers from this season don't jump off the page, it wasn't long ago Kilpatrick was a solid secondary scorer for the Nets. He averaged 13.8 points in 2015-16 and 13.1 points in 2016-17 while shooting better than 34 percent from three-point range each season.
At his best, he can add perimeter shooting to the Clippers and take advantage of open looks when opposing defenders collapse on DeAndre Jordan on the blocks or Lou Williams on the outside.
Los Angeles is one game behind the Denver Nuggets in the race for the Western Conference's No. 8 seed and playoff positioning, and Kilpatrick gives it another offensive option heading into the stretch run.
