WWE Elimination Chamber 2018: Match Card, Potential Spoilers, Predictions, More

Ryan DilbertFeb 24, 2018

The journey to WrestleMania 34 is going to get harrowing at WWE Elimination Chamber 2018.

Flesh will meet steel again and again in two Elimination Chamber matches Sunday inside T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas strip. In one of those bouts, seven Superstars will compete for the right to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. In the other, women will enter the structure for the first time.

The winner of that match will claim the Raw Women's Championship as their own and face Asuka at The Showcase of the Immortals.

In addition to in-ring action, the pay-per-view will also host the official welcoming of a major star. Ronda Rousey is set to sign her WWE contract live at the event.

Who can we expect to be celebrating in the Chamber? What will the WrestleMania card look like after Sunday night? Read on for a full preview of the PPV.

Potential Spoilers

Braun Strowman may cause great destruction inside Satan's Prison, but there's a good chance he doesn't walk out of it the winner.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE appears to be planning to go with The Miz vs. Strowman for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats). That would mean someone other than those two Superstars will win the Elimination Chamber match to get a crack at Lesnar.

At some point during the PPV, a familiar face may emerge. In late January, Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is expected to sign Bobby Lashley (h/t Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc).

The former ECW and TNA world champ hasn't shown up on Raw or SmackDown Live yet, but as WrestleMania nears, the chances increase that Lashley will storm into WWE once more.

And whatever WWE has in mind to set in motion with Rousey may lead to a clash with The Authority. Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reported: "The plan for Rousey at WrestleMania 34 is a mixed tag match against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon."

He also noted Rollins is one of the options WWE has in mind for Rousey's partner.

Match Card

  • Cesaro and Sheamus vs. Titus Worldwide.
  • Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel.
  • Bray Wyatt vs. Matt Hardy
  • Asuka vs. Nia Jax
  • Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley vs. Mandy Rose vs. Mickie James vs. Sasha Banks vs. Sonya Deville (Elimination Chamber)
  • Braun Strowman vs. Elias vs. Finn Balor vs. John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. The Miz (Elimination Chamber)

Predictions

  • The Bar over Titus Worldwide.
  • Gallows and Anderson vs. The Miztourage.
  • Wyatt over Hardy.
  • Asuka over Jax.
  • Banks wins the women's Elimination Chamber match.
  • Reigns wins the men's Elimination Chamber match.

Wyatt vs. Woken

A feud that has underwhelmed will continue at Elimination Chamber with minimal fanfare.

The clash between Raw's resident weirdos has not been nearly creative enough. It hasn't been anywhere near as beautifully bizarre as Hardy's days as his "broken" self on Impact Wrestling. WWE has co-opted Hardy's off-the-wall persona but hasn't shown it knows what to do with its new toy.

Sunday's PPV will offer up the latest go-round between these men.

Wyatt has twice beaten Hardy on Raw. The two rivals eliminated each other at the Royal Rumble. This next collision may be the setup for a big gimmick bout at WrestleMania. The feud can't possibly end in a standard match before their war can produce any fireworks.

Jax's Ticket to WrestleMania?

Jax's path to WrestleMania is clear. If she knocks off Asuka on Sunday, she will be added to the Raw Women's Championship match at The Show of Shows.

The trouble is that nobody has beaten Asuka in WWE. Nobody. Since arriving at NXT in 2015, no opponent has pinned her or forced her to submit. That's not going to change on a B-level PPV in a feud that is just getting going.

Asuka's first loss is a major moment waiting to happen. It will be a stunner if it doesn't go down at WrestleMania or SummerSlam.

But even though the outcome feels certain going into this match, it still promises to be quality. Their most recent showdown told a compelling story of a warrior chopping down her larger foe by going after one of her legs. The sequel promises to build on what they started on Raw and be one of the night's best offerings.

The Boss, The Champion

Alexa Bliss' first title defense in months is going to be rough. Not only are the chances high someone is going to send The Goddess of WWE crashing into the unforgiving elements of the Elimination Chamber structure, but she has five challengers vying for her crown.

Seeing a new champ emerge from the historic match is a strong possibility.

Sasha Banks has the best shot to win this thing. She offers one of the best possible matchups against Asuka at WrestleMania. The two Superstars tore down the house recently on Raw. Revisiting that showdown is a no-brainer.

And WWE could build on the simmering tension between friends Bayley and Banks by having The Boss last eliminate The Huggable One in some underhanded way.

Who Will Face The Beast?

Reigns vs. Lesnar II is nearly upon us. A win for The Big Dog on Sunday would seal the WrestleMania match many fans have seen coming for a long while.

At WrestleMania 31, Reigns looked like he might be able to fell The Conqueror. But Rollins leaped in, Money in the Bank contract in hand, and upended that main event. Rollins left with the WWE title; Reigns' quest remained unfinished.

WWE has recently presented Lesnar as unbeatable, fending off the likes of AJ Styles, Strowman and Samoa Joe. He's survived Fatal 5-Way and Triple Threat matches. It's all felt like a setup for a dramatic defeat at WrestleMania, a loss that proves to be Lesnar's sendoff should he not re-up his WWE deal.

If there is anyone WWE is going to peg as the champion knight who slays the dragon no one else could, it's Reigns, the one New Era Superstar the company has been most behind.

Elias should add a funny moment to the chaos Sunday. Strowman is bound to do something memorably destructive. Rollins may continue the gutsy babyface role he played during Monday's Gauntlet match. But the night will belong to Reigns.
