Seth Rollins and the WWE Stars Who Most Need Another Superstar Shake-Up
The one certainty of the WWE Superstar Shake-Up is that someone is bound to boost their momentum in a big way. Could Seth Rollins be that someone should he travel from Raw to SmackDown?
The Miz's move to Raw after last year's Superstar Shake-Up saw him become one of the cornerstones of the brand. The mouthy heel tangled with Roman Reigns and won the Intercontinental Championship for the seventh and eighth time.
Jinder Mahal found new life on SmackDown, where he morphed from low-card fodder to WWE champion.
As we saw with Mahal, a change in locale where new rivals wait can often help a wrestler in need of a spark.
And another exchange of talent between brands may be on the way. Citing a source within the company, Nick Hausman of Wrestle Zone reported: "WWE is internally discussing bringing back the WWE Draft at the upcoming Backlash PPV."
Rollins' fans should be among the most excited about that prospect. The Kingslayer is not forgotten talent by any means, but he hasn't been on the top tier in a long while. WWE has chosen instead to mostly keep him in the tag team division.
Should SmackDown select him in whatever form the next draft takes, there would be a clear path for him to the blue brand's top title. Plus, any move that creates the possibility of Rollins going one-on-one with AJ Styles is one to seriously consider.
Becky Lynch to Raw
1 of 5Becky Lynch has had zero story to work with of late.
It's hard to remember when she last had a sustained rivalry. She hasn't had a singles match on PPV since July 2017, and her last one-on-one PPV bout happened over a year ago, per CageMatch.net.
She's had more character development with the Mixed Match Challenge than on SmackDown.
Lynch has been with the blue brand since the 2016 WWE Draft. She was the first SmackDown women's champ, and she's already had a long rivalry with the current titleholder. New enemies and new goals would do her plenty of good.
On Raw, Lynch could reunite with her old PCB partner Paige, become the first female member of The Balor Club faction or look to become only the third Superstar to win both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships.
All of that beats what she's doing, or more accurately not doing, where she is now.
Bayley to SmackDown
2 of 5Few Superstars need a restart more than Bayley.
After her feud with Alexa Bliss shredded her momentum, Bayley hasn't often looked anything like the top babyface she could be. There were flashes of that during recent battles with Asuka and Sasha Banks, but that may not last.
The former NXT champ is poised to be pushed to the background again. WWE hasn't shown that it feels as if Bayley is a priority.
Asuka is sure to get ample spotlight. Nia Jax appears to be in line for something big. And soon, Ronda Rousey will be vying for the Raw Women's Championship.
A move to SmackDown would give Bayley a chance for a shift in character, a welcome change in scenery and, at the least, some new opposition. The Huggable One would create some great pathos as the underdog battling The Riott Squad, or she could be Natalya's new foil.
Unless the expected feud with Banks is starting soon, Bayley is better off switching brands.
Seth Rollins to SmackDown
3 of 5First Dean Ambrose went down with an arm injury. Then Jason Jordan underwent neck surgery. WWE's plans for Rollins had to be rethought each time.
After spending months in the tag team scene, Rollins' path is less clear.
He will temporarily be on the hunt for the Universal Championship after making it to the No. 1 Contender's Elimination Chamber match, but that's not going to last. The Kingslayer has a much better chance of being in the top title mix for longer if he's on SmackDown.
Rollins vs. Rusev, Rollins vs. Sami Zayn or Rollins vs. Baron Corbin would all be on the table should he head to SmackDown. Each one of those rivalries is something fresh and exciting for a guy who has spent a lot of time tangling with Cesaro and Sheamus for the past six months-plus.
Mojo Rawley to Raw
4 of 5Mojo Rawley transformed himself when he flattened his own tag team partner Zack Ryder. Suddenly, a one-dimensional character had more depth, and Rawley was more compelling than he ever had been in his career.
And SmackDown hasn't done nearly enough to showcase that.
Rawley has not regularly been on TV. The powerhouse has had to resort to shooting promos on his phone and posting them to social media. And he's only wrestled on SmackDown twice this year so far, per CageMatch.net.
If SmackDown can't find the time to see what this new-look Rawley is all about, the best bet is a change in brand.
Raw is no perfect booking landscape, but at least it has an additional hour to work with each week. That may be the difference between Rawley warming the bench and getting a real chance to shine.
Career-changing bouts with John Cena and Reigns potentially await him on Raw.
Breezango to Raw
5 of 5After a long stretch where The Fashion Files was the best thing on SmackDown every Tuesday, Tyler Breeze and Fandango have slid down the blue brand ladder.
The New Day, The Usos, The Bludgeon Brothers, Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin are all higher priorities.
The comedy segments don't air as frequently. When Breezango gets in the ring, the duo is run over in mere seconds. As a result, there's been too little opportunity to highlight two of the loudest characters on the WWE roster.
On Raw, Breezango would be energized by a whole new set of foes to contend with.
Breeze and Fandango could cross paths with The Balor Club for an intriguing contrast in personalities. Perhaps their story can overlap with the eccentric Woken Matt Hardy. And Breezango interacting with the cruiserweights would add a shot of fun to Raw.
