Tyreke Evans, Emanuel Mudiay Trade Offers Reportedly Rejected by Grizzlies
The Denver Nuggets reportedly made a last-minute push to acquire Tyreke Evans at Thursday's trade deadline, but the Memphis Grizzlies weren't interested in any of the offers on the table.
According to ESPN.com's Zach Lowe, the Nuggets offered the Grizzlies point guard Emmanuel Mudiay and a second-round pick or an expiring contract coupled with multiple second-round selections.
The Grizzlies reportedly weren't interested in the first offer because Mudiay still has one guaranteed year remaining on his contract, while the second deal didn't strike their fancy because it simply wasn't enough in exchange for Evans.
The Nuggets, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers were considered the frontrunners to land Evans prior to the deadline, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
However, a trade never materialized since the Grizzlies' asking price was evidently a bit high even though they weren't negotiating from a position of strength with Evans on an expiring contract.
The 28-year-old—who signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Grizzlies last summer—is currently averaging 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists on 45.8 percent shooting from the field and a career-best 39.2 percent shooting from three.
Evans hasn't played since Jan. 29 because the Grizzlies wanted to ensure he'd be healthy through the trade deadline.
Based on his production this season, Evans should entertain a decent bidding war this summer when he hits the open market.
