WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from February 13
With Fastlane rapidly approaching and every Superstar on the SmackDown roster seeking an opportunity to get to WrestleMania 34, the February 13 edition of WWE SmackDown Live was overflowing with wrestlers looking for gold. Desperation and desire drove the action.
Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin were at the center of the most important story as they were set to face each other to determine the fourth man to challenge for the WWE Championship at Fastlane on March 11, but both ended up walking out victors thanks to the antics of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
Jinder Mahal hatched a plan that also put him right into title contention by attacking Bobby Roode and Randy Orton after making them doubt each other. One of SmackDown's newest members also made an impact, with Sarah Logan stepping up to women's champion Charlotte Flair.
While many lost matches on SmackDown, only one team truly stood out as losers, with Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin failing completely in their attempts to wipe The New Day off the SmackDown roster.
With shots at glory rapidly diminishing on the Road to WrestleMania, every win or loss in a given week could drastically affect the future of top talent. What will become of these biggest winners and losers from SmackDown as Fastlane looms?
Winner: Sarah Logan
1 of 4SmackDown women's champion Charlotte continued to run through The Riott Squad, this week defeating Logan.
However, unlike her fairly dominant showing against Liv Morgan, Charlotte struggled against the physicality of the dangerous Louisville hunter.
Logan did not look like a rookie against the champ, pushing her to the limit largely without help from her partners at ringside. For this reason, while Charlotte obviously picked up a victory for the night, Logan was the woman who gained the most from the match.
Only those who know Logan as Crazy Mary Dobson from her work before arriving in WWE have a proper view of how talented The Riott Squad bruiser is. Before Tuesday night, the best showcase was her great match with Mia Yim in the Mae Young Classic.
After that tournament, unfortunately, she was quickly rushed on to the main roster to make sure the women's division had enough talent to fill out a Royal Rumble match. Working with a new gimmick, she has flubbed her lines repeatedly and looked hesitant in most appearances.
It was good to finally see Logan unleashed even if she still showed some discomfort on the WWE stage. Few women on the roster will have higher upside than her once she finds her voice in the company.
For now, though, she should continue to grow under Ruby Riott, who could soon be fighting for the women's championship.
Winner: Jinder Mahal

Roode had a plan this week to fight Orton just one week after The Viper's surprise attack on the United States champion, but Jinder Mahal was not interested in anyone's plans.
Interrupting Roode's U.S. Open Challenge, The Maharaja mocked Orton and tried to goad him into attacking The Glorious One.
While Orton was not taking the bait, Mahal still used the tension between these new rivals to take out both the champion and the veteran. The former WWE champion has clearly set his sights on the U.S. title, but he has already been defeated by the current champion.
He needed to make an impact, and he did just that to move back into contention and stir the pot between Roode and Orton to make sure the champion is consistently distracted. This whole segment likely set up a Triple Threat for the title at Fastlane, which would be a fun and competitive match.
Mahal's WWE Championship reign was largely a mess, but he has more than come into own as an important part of SmackDown. This Road to WrestleMania will be the most important of his career, and it will be telling how he is used.
Roode and Orton are certain to be major parts of the 'Mania season. It is possible The Modern Day Maharaja will just be a distraction from the two clashing on The Grandest Stage of Them All, but he could just as easily be setting up his own new chapter in WWE.
Losers: Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin
3 of 4
Since losing to The Usos again and falling down in contention for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, Gable and Benjamin have been on a crusade to rid the division of comedy. While they built up momentum by defeating Breezango and The Ascension, they lost out significantly this week.
Ruining The New Day's pancake-eating, they deliberately angered the longest-reigning tag team champions in history. They even declared Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods were not serious competitors. All this was meant to build up Gable and Benjamin's status.
Instead, the team was taken out with relative ease by Kofi and Big E. While this feud could be a long-term story, the first impression looked bad for two of SmackDown's most impressive pure athletes. They picked a fight they could not win.
It is nice to see the tag team division growing and developing beyond the championships, especially since New Day have been aimless for months. However, this feels more like the division stalling out. As good as these teams are, there's nothing here right now in terms of storytelling.
Even when New Day are at their silliest, there are at least some ounce of stakes behind their rivalries. Gable and Benjamin dropping a few of their pancakes on the mat is hardly the makings of a heated feud.
Winners: Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler
4 of 4The night did not start well for either Corbin or Ziggler, but their fortunes quickly changed. Owens and Zayn ruined the previously announced match between the two longtime rivals that was booked to add a fourth man to the main event of Fastlane, assaulting The Lone Wolf and The Showoff.
In response, Corbin and Ziggler were given matches against KO and Zayn, respectively, with the chance to both qualify for the WWE Championship match. Despite lingering injuries from the opening assault, both men emerged victorious and added their names to the WWE Championship bout.
Corbin has been an afterthought on SmackDown since he lost his Money in the Bank briefcase in a failed cash-in. If he had faced Ziggler one-on-one, it is likely he would have lost, so he won out from this situation even more. His clean victory over Owens with the End of Days might be what The Lone Wolf needs to regain momentum ahead of 'Mania.
Ziggler finally returned to SmackDown after months away and while his absence went largely unexplained, he clearly benefited from the time off. His impact-heavy match with Zayn was as close as it could be, but The Showoff ultimately prevailed with a superkick. No one knows what to expect from Ziggler right now.
AJ Styles absolutely should not lose at Fastlane, so all these added heels to the match are just obstacles to overcome, further putting over The Phenomenal One as champion.
All four challengers will be given a huge spotlight now, but it is hard to say where they will stand come WrestleMania.
