David Price Says He Could Have Handled Dennis Eckersley Altercation Differently
On Saturday, Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price addressed an altercation that he had with Dennis Eckersley on the team plane last month.
Per ESPN's Scott Lauber, Price acknowledged he could have handled the situation with Eckersley in "probably a different way," but also told the NESN broadcaster to "show your face."
Per Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe, Price confronted Eckersley on a team flight June 29 after Eckersley said on the NESN broadcast of a Red Sox game "yuck" when pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez's stats from a minor league rehab game were shown on the screen.

"Price stood in front of Eckersley and shouted, 'Here he is—the greatest pitcher who ever lived! This game is easy for him,'" Shaughnessy wrote. "When a stunned Eckersley tried to speak, Price shot back with, 'Get the [expletive] out of here!'"
Red Sox CEO Sam Kennedy said the team handled the matter "internally," per Shaughnessy.
Lauber noted Price has had multiple run-ins with members of the media this season, including cursing at several reporters after a separate incident with a Comcast SportsNet reporter.
"I'm standing up for my teammates," Price said, according to Lauber. "That's it. That's who I am. That's who I always have been, and that's who I will continue to be."
Price was placed on the 10-day disabled list for the second time this season Friday with left elbow inflammation. The 2012 AL Cy Young winner has a 3.82 ERA with 63 strikeouts in 66 innings over 11 starts in 2017.
