Teddy Bridgewater Placed on PUP List by Vikings Due to Knee Injury Recovery
The Minnesota Vikings formally placed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on the active/physically unable to perform list Wednesday as he continues to recover from a torn ACL and dislocated knee suffered last August, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The MMQB's Albert Breer noted the move was a formality and will leave the door open for the 24-year-old to be placed on the reserve/PUP list if he's not ready by Week 1.
Bridgewater may not be back at 100 percent yet since he's just 11 months removed from the severe knee injury, but every indication is that he's made positive strides of late.

On July 13, the Star Tribune's Michael Rand reported Bridgewater was working out without a knee brace, news that came two days before Bridgewater relayed pictures of a private throwing session with former Louisville teammate DeVante Parker:
Even so, Bridgewater may be looking at a second straight season on the sidelines.
According to the Star Tribune's Matt Vensel, "there is probably still a decent chance he spends the entire season on the PUP list, which would mean his contract would toll to 2018, keeping him under team control."
With Sam Bradford's deal set to expire at season's end, that may be the kind of forward-thinking move the Vikings take in order to give themselves an added safety net under center entering 2018.
