John Fox Calls Bears' Roster 'Deepest and Most Competitive Team We've Fielded'
Chicago Bears head coach John Fox is optimistic heading into the 2017 season, saying on Wednesday, "This is the deepest and most competitive team we've fielded," according to Chicago Sports News.
"Our roster is at the point now where I think it is competitive," he added, per Zach Zaidman of the Chicago Bears Radio Network.
Fox, 62, is entering his third season as the head coach of the Bears. In his first two seasons at the helm, the team went 9-23.

The Bears were active this offseason as they attempt to become a contender once again, however. They signed quarterback Mike Glennon and drafted Mitchell Trubisky to address a major area of concern. And they added veterans Quintin Demps, Prince Amukamara, Marcus Cooper and B.W. Webb to a secondary that required a drastic remodeling.
The team will also be hoping for a cleaner bill of health than in years past. Keeping young players like wideout Kevin White and edge-rusher Leonard Floyd on the field will be key. Ditto for veterans like Pernell McPhee, Lamarr Houston and Eddie Goldman.
Fox and general manager Ryan Pace are making the health of the team a priority in training camp, per Zaidman:
There are question marks, of course. The team lost Alshon Jeffery in free agency, for instance, and replaced him with the trio of Victor Cruz, Markus Wheaton and Kendall Wright, a marked downgrade at the position. The team will be banking on a healthy White and last year's breakout performer, Cameron Meredith, picking up the slack in the passing game.
Fox, at the very least, is optimistic that the Bears will be a far more competitive team than they were a year ago. If that isn't the case, however, he could find himself on the hot seat.
But Fox doesn't seem overly concerned about his job security.
"I'm beyond feeling the pressure part of it," he said, according to Zaidman.
