Penn State Coach James Franklin Wants Saquon Barkley's Parents to Have More Kids
Every college football coach would love to have Saquon Barkley on his team.
The Penn State running back enters his junior year a top Heisman Trophy contender after amassing 1,898 total yards and 22 touchdowns last season. Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin is so enamored with his star that he campaigned for Barkley's parents to reproduce.
Per Land of 10's Sean Keeler, Franklin made things weird at Tuesday's Big Ten media day by playfully encouraging Barkley's parents to conceive another football player.
"The genetics are strong—mom and dad did a great job," Franklin told reporters. "I'm actually trying to figure out—if it's legal, NCAA-wise, I want to send mom and dad on a romantic vacation and try to convince them to have more children. The Saquon thing worked out pretty well."
Of course, his weird plan has flaws. Franklin would need to hold the coaching gig for 18 years. The child would then have to both want to play football and follow his or her brother's footsteps and attend Penn State.
For now, he will have to make do with one Barkley.
