Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, Others Not 'In Play' in Marlins Trade Talks
The Miami Marlins are expected to be sellers before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, but that doesn't mean the team will part with its future stars.
According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald, president of baseball operations Michael Hill namedย Giancarlo Stanton, Justin Bour, Christian Yelich, J.T. Realmuto, Marcell Ozuna and Dan Straily as players who are nearly untouchable in the coming week.
"Those guys are core, controllable pieces," Hill said Sunday.

While Hill also noted teams have called in about those players, he clarified his stance by saying "we haven't put any of those guys in play."
The Marlins entered Sunday with a 44-51 record, fourth place in the National League East. Despite the struggles, the key players have proved their worth.
Stanton has gone to four All-Star Games and is currently leading the NL with 30 home runs. He also is under contract through the 2028 season as part of $325 million deal, which may prevent many teams from pursuing him.ย
Jon Heymanย of FanRag Sports reported Saturday that the New York Yankees had asked about Stanton, but talks don't seem to still be ongoing.
Meanwhile, Ozuna went to his second All-Star game this season and has already matched his career high with 23 home runs. His .311 batting average would also be his personal best over a full season. Like Bour, Realmuto and Straily, he will undergo arbitration next year and won't be able to hit free agency for another few seasons.
Yelich is signed through 2019.
If the Marlins do make a move, closer A.J. Ramos could be the target.ย Heymanย listed six teams interested in the reliever, who can be a free agent after the 2018 season.
