Chris Carter Reportedly to Sign with Athletics After Being Released by Yankees
Free-agent first baseman Chris Carter and the Oakland A's reportedly agreed to terms Wednesday on a minor league contract, according to FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman.
Heyman added that Carter will begin his time in the organization with Oakland's Triple-A affiliate in Nashville, Tennessee.
The 2016 National League home run leader signed a one-year contract with the New York Yankees prior to the 2017 season, but his stint in the Bronx didn't last long.

Although he continued to flash solid power to the tune of eight home runs in 62 games, Carter struck out 76 times over the course of 184 at-bats and barely cleared the Mendoza Line (.201) before he was released.
The 30-year-old will now head back to the A's—a team he spent the first three seasons of his MLB career with—and provide them with some additional depth in the event they move Yonder Alonso prior to the July 31 trade deadline.
