WWE 205 Live Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from July 11

The Doctor Chris MuellerJul 11, 2017

It's hard to believe WWE 205 Live has four different feuds going on at the same time, especially when you consider the show is only an hour long.

The cruiserweight division gets one or two segments during Raw, but it's never anything special. The real storyline progression happens Tuesday nights.

Neville is still ruling over the division with an iron fist, and based on what we saw this week, nobody is close to being able to dethrone him as King of the Cruiserweights.

We were also treated to three matches, a fight involving umbrellas and a faux press conference. Let's take a look at what happened on this week's episode of 205 Live.

Akira Tozawa vs. Ariya Daivari

1 of 4

Titus O'Neil was giving Akira Tozawa a pep talk over the phone when Ariya Daivari walked in and questioned the Japanese fighter's honor.

This led to a singles match, but it didn't last long. As Tozawa was getting ready to hit his trademark senton from the top rope, Neville attacked him out of nowhere.

The cruiserweight champion beat Tozawa all around the ring before locking in the Ring of Saturn. It took the ref a long time to finally force him to break the hold.

Once again, The King of the Cruiserweights looked like the most dominant competitor in the division. He has established himself as one of WWE's best heels over the past several months, and it doesn't look like he is slowing down anytime soon.

Grade: C+

Notes and Highlights

  • The kick Neville hit to Tozawa's arm looked painful.
  • Daivari needs to go to NXT. He might actually have a chance of winning some matches.
  • No excuse was given for why O'Neil wasn't with his client, but his absence allowed Neville to take out his rival without anyone getting in his way.

Rich Swann vs. Mario Connors and TJP vs. Mario Connors

2 of 4

After Drew Gulak held a fake press conference to challenge Mustafa Ali to another match, Rich Swann battled someone by the name of Mario Connors.

TJP watched the match from ringside, but it was unclear if he was supporting his friend or sizing him up for a future match.

Swann made quick work of his opponent, winning with a beautiful Phoenix Splash. TJP congratulated him on his win but claimed he could beat his opponent in half the time.

Connors, despite being in bad shape, agreed to the match. He came close to winning with a roll up, but TJP ultimately picked up the win in an impressive 28 seconds.

The friendly rivalry between Swann and TJP is an interesting storyline. It will likely end with TJP going back to his evil ways, but we have to wait and see what happens.

Grade: C

Notes and Highlights

  • TJP is in a unique spot He turned heel without any real reason behind it, then he seemed to change his ways. Now, WWE is giving him a proper storyline to show why he is frustrated. It's almost like the creative team is going back and fixing its own mistake.
  • Props to Connors for trying to bring back the boot-tassel look.
  • Who gave TJP the power to book matches?

The Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher Trade Insults and Punches

3 of 4
Who is the real Jack Gallagher?
Who is the real Jack Gallagher?

The Brian Kendrick came out dressed like Jack Gallagher and delivered a scathing promo about how he is a fraud and a joke.

This was one of the first times Kendrick has been given significant mic time in months, and it reminded everyone why he is one of the best in the division.

His emotion always seems real. Gallagher is a great wrestler, but he isn't quite on Kendrick's level in the promo department. Gentleman Jack came out to respond, which led to a fight.

Gallagher got in the first few shots, but Kendrick used his umbrella to get the upper hand.

Grade: C

Notes and Highlights

  • Calling Gallagher a third-rate William Regal is still kind of a compliment when you consider how good Regal is at what he does.
  • Watching two men fight in dress shoes is weird.
  • It's nice to see a more serious Gallagher every so often. He is too close to being a comedy gimmick sometimes.

Cedric Alexander vs. Noam Dar ('I Quit' Match)

4 of 4
Noam Dar finally dumped Alicia Fox.
Noam Dar finally dumped Alicia Fox.

In what is being billed as the final chapter of a story that has gone on way too long, Cedric Alexander faced Noam Dar in an "I Quit" match.

This feud might be stale, but both performers helped make the match as entertaining as it could be. They took the fight outside the ring early and showed more intensity than we usually see from them.

As usual, Alicia Fox was at ringside to support Dar and taunt her former boyfriend. Both men pulled out all the stops, using unconventional offense in an attempt to get the other to quit.

Dar focused a lot of his attacks on Alexander's knee, while Alexander went after his hand. It took trapping Dar's hand in a steel chair and stomping on it several times to get The Scottish Supernova to finally give up.

This wasn't the most technical encounter, but it gave them a chance to show off their skills in a completely different way, which is never a bad thing.

Grade: B+

Notes and Highlights

  • Dar slowly turned into a sympathetic character due to Foxy's craziness. Then he broke up with her while delivering a heel promo and turned everyone against him again.
  • Where does Foxy go from here? Her identity has been tied to her relationships for the better part of the past year.
  • Dar did an amazing job making the crowd hate him right after they cheered him for dumping Foxy. That's the mark of a great heel.
