4 WWE Storylines We'd Build for the Rest of 2026

Only four months remain in 2026, but there's plenty of potential for storylines to impact the company positively and set it up for a big 2027.

From substantial character changes to the unleashing of a werewolf, they are stories that can propel the company forward at a time of year in which the WWE product typically becomes somewhat stagnant and prepare it for the all-important road to WrestleMania.

What are those stories?

Let's take a look.

Bron Breakker Leaves The Vision

It has become clear that The Vision is firmly a midcard act. No longer the show-dominating faction they once were, it is time for Bron Breakker to break free of the group and embark on a singles run toward the main event scene.

After wrapping up his battles with Oba Femi over who the true future of WWE is, he can realize that he is better than his current situation and break free from The Vision, embarking on a babyface run that sees him tear through Austin Theory and engage the returning Bronson Reed in a short program.

By the time December rolls around, he should be free and clear from the group and preparing for a sizeable push toward bigger and better, with the WWE Universe ready to shower him with cheers and dog barks for The Badass.

A Defiant Jacob Fatu

We have already seen Jacob Fatu's willingness to stand on his own and disobey The Bloodline when he sees fit. We watched it happen when Roman Reigns condescended to him, leading to The Samoan Werewolf standing back and watching LA Knight and Solo Sikoa get the best of his family.

Already a fan-favorite for the intensity he brings to his performance and the ass-kicking nature of his character, it will not be difficult to get Fatu back over as a main-event-level babyface.

The build to that should continue the rest of the year, with Reigns continuing to disrespect him and treat him like a foot soldier instead of a member of the family. The big man can even endure a beatdown at the hands of The Bloodline for his transgressions.

Let the audience build a little sympathy for Fatu so that when it is time for him to defy Reigns and unleash hell, they are ready to see The Samoan Werewolf tear stuff up.

It would put him on course to be free of the group and, more importantly, set up that rematch with Reigns in which he is undisputably the hero and ready to fight against the oppressive, gaslighting World Heavyweight Champion, with a chance to take the gold.

Cody Rhodes Turns Heel

Okay, so this one may be more fantasy booking than a real possibility, but it is time to pull the trigger on the Cody Rhodes heel turn.

We had our first taste of Rhodes fatigue earlier this year, when the boos started to outweigh the cheers on the road to WrestleMania 42, and the result was one of the most polarizing main events in the history of the Showcase of the Immortals.

Rhodes has worked too hard to become the main event star and face of the company to become the latest main event babyface to suffer the wrath of a bored or disinterested audience.

The seeds have already been planted, too. We have witnessed the frustration mounting as Rhodes is separated from the Undisputed WWE Championship. He has become edgier, even ruthless at times, and is hell-bent on regaining the prize, which leaves no doubt that he is QB1.

He has resisted calls for a heel turn in the past as the top babyface and hero to millions, but the last thing anyone wants to see is Rhodes become a caricature of the hero; a guy booed in favor of others because the fans are tired of seeing him shake hands and kiss babies.

Using the current rivalry with Orton, and growing tension between him and Punk as the catalyst, a Rhodes heel turn at an event such as Survivor Series: War Games in Houston would not only freshen him up, but also give fans something to buzz about at a time of year that is usually not particularly hot for the company.

A bitter Rhodes who lets out all of his frustration on the audience, after years spent being the hero it deserves, is a character fans could easily be excited about and WWE could build on.

Damian Priest Betrays R-Truth, Re-Enters Title Picture

This past Friday night on SmackDown, WWE Creative laid the groundwork for a Damian Priest heel turn when he expressed a desire to split from R-Truth and embark on a singles run back to the top of the company.

While he gave in to his tag team partner and agreed to one more match as partners, The Archer of Infamy has the chance to make a definitive statement.

Imagine a scenario where, frustrated over another loss, Priest snaps and brutalizes Truth. The good thing about having someone so beloved by the fans is that he is an effective tool when it comes to getting someone over as a villain.

From there, Priest can go on a tear that rejuvenates him.

A Superstar with great presence, who fell into a bit of a rut over the last year, he could be heated right back up and inserted into a jam-packed WWE title picture, ready to win the most coveted prize in the company and re-establish himself as a main event presence.
