Full List of NFL Waiver Claims Revealed as Cowboys Add Former Chiefs RB After Jaydon Blue Exit
Following Sunday's NFL roster cutdowns, multiple teams around the league made some slight changes through the waiver wire on Monday.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport provided the full list of Monday's waiver claims, highlighted by the Dallas Cowboys claiming former Kansas City Chiefs running back Emari Demercado to replace 2025 fifth-round pick Jaydon Blue, who was waived on Sunday.
The Miami Dolphins, meanwhile, claimed a total of seven players.
Miami subsequently made corresponding roster moves to make room for the players they claimed:
ESPN's Todd Archer noted that Blue entered training camp as the Cowboys' No. 2 running back behind Javonte Williams, but he briefly dealt with a shoulder injury and was eventually supplanted by Malik Davis. Dallas also waived 2025 seventh-round pick Phil Mafah, leaving Israel Abanikanda as the third running back.
Demercado spent the first three years of his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals before signing a one-year deal with the Chiefs in March. However, Kansas City also signed former Seattle Seahawks running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III that same day, making Demercado expendable.
In 40 career games, Demercado has totaled 126 yards for 819 yards and three touchdowns. He finished the 2025 campaign with a career-high 312 yards across 13 games. He also saw some time as a kick returner, averaging 28.7 yards on three returns.
The Cowboys have a reliable starter in Williams, who rushed for career highs of 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. Adding Demercado to the mix gives Dallas more depth and versatility in its backfield as the team tries to establish itself as one of the elite squads in the NFC in 2026.
