Terry Francona Undergoing Tests at Hospital, All-Star Game Status in Question
Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona continues to undergo tests at the Cleveland Clinic and could miss the MLB All-Star Game on July 11.
According to the Associated Press (via ESPN.com), "it's unclear when he'll be discharged," which has raised the possibility that he won't be able to manage the American League All-Stars at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida.ย
Francona, 58, has experienced health issues throughout the 2017 season and was admitted to the hospital Tuesday. He previously stepped away from the Indians on June 26 after he felt light-headed and experienced an elevated heart rate.ย

Report: MLB Vet Unretires After 1 Day
Indians presidentย Chris Antonettiย told reporters Wednesday Francona will miss "at least a couple more days" as doctors try to pinpoint what's wrong.ย
"It's just at this point narrowing down what is the specific thing causing the symptoms and how do they correct that," Antonetti said. "And all of the doctors are very confident they will be able to do that and figure that out in the near term."
In February, Francona discussed his health on MLB.com'sย Newsmakersย podcast (h/t MLB.com'sย Bill Ladson):ย
"I've had a lot of surgeries, a lot of health problems. It just takes a toll on you. I love [the game of baseball]. I really do, but I can't see myself doing something else. But there is going to come a day when I feel like I'm shortchanging the team or the organization. That's not fair.
"Even now, during batting practice, I'll come in and get off my feet a little bit. I think everybody understands. But when there comes a day when it gets in the way, I'm going to have to pull back, and it's not because I don't love managing. You have to have a certain amount of energy to do this job right."
Bench coachย Brad Millsย will continue to coach the Indians in Francona's absence.ย
