Justin Jackson, Sacramento Kings Agree to Rookie Contract

Alec NathanJul 8, 2017

The Sacramento Kings and No. 15 overall pick Justin Jackson agreed to terms on a four-year rookie contract Saturday, the team announced.

A three-year contributor for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Jackson made major strides as a junior and helped lead his squad to a national championship over the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

In 40 games, the 2016-17 ACC Player of the Year averaged 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 44.3 percent from the field, including a career-high 37.0 percent from three.

The 6'8" swingman also flashed a solid floater and improving catch-and-shoot chops from beyond the arc to complement his lockdown defensive capabilities, which fueled the belief that he fits the mold of a modern NBA wing.

"Going back I think I matured a ton," Jackson said, per the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones. "I got a whole lot better ... so hopefully I can come in right away and make a difference and help the team."

More of a finished product than most players in the 2017 draft class, Jackson should help the Kings right away.
