Judge, 25, leads MLB with 27 home runs. He's also the American League leader in runs (70), RBI (62) and walks (58) and second in batting average (.327) entering Monday's action. Playing in his first full MLB season, he has established himself as a young cornerstone of the Yankees franchise—much in the same way Sanchez did a year ago.
"I watch him take BP, and he uses the whole field. So he'll do the same thing," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said, per ESPN.com. "Players, you want them to go enjoy the All-Star Game, because it's something they've earned. But you do worry about fatigue for those guys, because they've got to travel. The good thing is we have a Sunday day game here. It'll be easy to get down there. So it shouldn't be too bad."
Sanchez, 24, has not been as spectacular as he was a year ago, but he's still arguably the best young catcher in baseball. He's hit 13 home runs and driven in 40 runs in 51 games, posting a .289/.378/.526 slash line.
The 2017 Home Run Derby will be held July 10 at Marlins Park in Miami. Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton is the event's defending champion.
