Michael Conforto Placed on Disabled List with Hand Injury
The New York Mets announced Saturday they placed Michael Conforto on the 10-day disabled list with a bruised left hand. The Mets activated starting pitcher Zack Wheeler to fill Conforto's place on the 25-man roster.
The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .285 with 14 home runs and 41 RBI in 2017.
Conforto hasn't played since the Mets' 8-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on June 25. He left the game in the sixth inning after getting hit in the hand by a pitch from Giants starter Matt Moore:

The New York Post's Adam Rubin reported Conforto had an MRI and CT scan on his left wrist Friday, and neither test showed a fracture.
Mets manager Terry Collins said the wrist continues to be a problem for Conforto nonetheless: "Michael said he tried to swing today. It feels a little bit better, but not like he can go in and really compete."
The Mets remain snakebitten by injuries this season. With Wheeler's activation and Conforto's official DL designation, New York has 10 players on the disabled list, which is a big reason the team is five games under .500 and 9.5 games back of the National League East-leading Washington Nationals.
