Khalil Mack Deal Reportedly on Hold After Derek Carr, Gabe Jackson Contracts
Oakland Raiders edge-rusher Khalil Mack will reportedly have to wait until 2018 to receive a contract extension.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Mack's new deal has been put on hold after the Raiders signed quarterback Derek Carr and offensive lineman Gabe Jackson to lucrative extensions over the past week that have limited the team's financial flexibility.
Carr inked a five-year, $125 million deal, while Jackson and the Raiders agreed to terms Thursday on a five-year, $56 million pact, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie told reporters in January the team hoped to extend Mack sooner rather than later, but there doesn't need to be a tremendous sense of urgency since the 26-year-old is under team control through 2018 after his fifth-year option was exercised.
Rapoport put the timeline for Mack's future pay day in perspective:
A two-time All-Pro, Mack tallied 11.0 sacks, 73 total tackles, five fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and a pick-six during the 2016 season. According to Pro Football Focus, the 2014 first-round pick graded out as the fourth-best player in the entire NFL last season.
Mack is also the only player with at least 25 sacks—he recorded 15 in 2015—over the past two seasons.
If Mack can sustain that production moving forward, he could threaten to supplant Von Miller as the league's highest-paid edge-rusher.
