WWE Raw: Burning Questions to Address After June 26 Show

Ryan DilbertJun 27, 2017

From Akira Tozawa joining forces with Titus O'Neil to Samoa Joe strangling Brock Lesnar, the images from Monday's WWE Raw left fans wondering what's ahead.

Will the alliances in their early stages boost Superstars' careers? Where will the red brand's feuds head next? Would WWE actually script a Joe win over Lesnar?

These questions emerged as Raw continued to hype the July 9 Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view.

Tozawa stared down the cruiserweight champ emboldened by a new partnership. Goldust filmed R-Truth's suffering. Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas assisted The Miz in picking up a victory.

The Destroyer left Lesnar red-faced, weakened and wobbly, something one simply doesn't see normally.

What did all these happenings mean? The following is a look at the very question, breaking down the biggest unknowns from Monday's Raw.

How Will Joining Titus Worldwide Impact Tozawa?

Titus O'Neil finally inked a deal with Tozawa. He had been pursuing the cruiserweight as his next client for weeks, looking to expand the Titus Brand.

On Monday's Raw, O'Neil revealed that not only did Tozawa sign with him but that he already booked the Japanese star a Cruiserweight Championship match against Neville at Great Balls of Fire.

That's more than O'Neil has been able to give his first client, Apollo Crews.

What effect will being in O'Neil's faction have on Tozawa? Will this allow him to stand out from the other cruiserweights?

Tozawa was already sporting a new look on Raw. He glared on from ringside during Lince Dorado vs. Neville while wearing sunglasses and a sharp suit. O'Neil did most of the talking for Tozawa here as he played spokesman and promoter.

Those elements will at least prevent Tozawa from being generic. It's unclear if WWE can strike the right tone here, though, and not have this alliance come off as a joke.

The partnership will, at the very least, allow Tozawa to step out of the cruiserweight world and interact with more of the overall Raw roster.

What Kind of 'Shattered Truth' is Ahead?

Goldust premiered what he dubbed "The Shattered Truth," which was essentially just a beatdown that a gold-clad cameraman filmed.

The Bizarre One didn't wait for the bell to attack R-Truth on Monday. He left his old tag team partner motionless after peppering him with right hands.

That was it? That was Goldust's big film opening? As Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net wrote, "The Goldust and Truth segment was very brief considering all the promos."

Maybe Goldust is planning to roll out some kind of series and that was only the first edition.

The cameraman was a nice touch for this moment, but this story needs more. Things need to get weirder. Whatever match ends up being the climax of this feud needs a creative stipulation to fit the feel of this narrative so far.

Hollywood Backlot Brawl II perhaps?

Can Miztourage Gain Traction?

The Miz had to deal with both LaVar Ball invading his space and Dean Ambrose looking to tear him apart. Luckily, the heel had Axel and Dallas at his side. Announcers referred to the duo as the "Miztourage."

The cronies fought alongside The Miz on Monday to take down Heath Slater, Rhyno and Ambrose in six-man action.

Dallas and Axel aren't used to coming out on top like that. They aren't used to being on the right side of a deciding pinfall. Will their association allow them to change their fortunes, though?

Will this pair catch on much as Damien Sandow did as The Miz's stunt double?

WWE will have to shift their characters for this to work. They are coming off generic at the moment. The Miz's style must influence their fashion choices. They need to become snootier.

The Miztourage can be so much more than a pair of lackeys. They can be the hit of the summer with the right mix of creative effort and Axel and Dallas maximizing their chance.

Does Joe Have a Real Shot Against Lesnar?

Lesnar didn't get a chance to say anything. There was no shot at vengeance, no chance to leave ruin in his wake. That's because The Destroyer ambushed him and left him struggling to stand.

Joe pounced on The Beast Incarnate from behind on Monday's Raw in an unexpected show of Lesnar's vulnerability.

Despite the universal champ's best efforts, he was unable to escape the Coquina Clutch. Joe instead brought him to his knees with the submission hold.

Is this a preview of their title bout? Or is WWE simply trying to sell Joe as a threat?

The New Age Insiders podcast Twitter account praised the company's ability to build up Joe:

The plan is likely that Lesnar will take down Joe at the PPV. That will give way to Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman and/or Roman Reigns for the gold. Those are money matches WWE is sure to have on its wishlist.

Joe as champion, however, would be tremendous. WWE has to consider adjusting its plans, letting The Destroyer reign and building the brand around him. He's hot right now, and he'd thrive in hoss fights against the likes of Strowman and Reigns.
